shergar was a wonder horse, loved by evryone, including me in my days as a pundit. Unfortunately, everything that glitters attracts the ghosts at night.
According to history, Shergar (born 1978. Sire: Great Nephew, Dam: Sharmeen) was an impressive racehorse, and winner of the 1981 Epsom Derby by a record 10 lengths, the longest winning margin in the race's 226-year history. This victory earned him a spot in the Observer's 100 Most Memorable Sporting Moments of the Twentieth Century. A bay colt with a distinctive white blaze, Shergar was named European Horse of the Year in 1981 and retired from racing that September.

Two years later, on February 8, 1983, he was kidnapped by masked gunmen from the Ballymany Stud, near The Curragh in County Kildare, Ireland. The generally accepted account is that Shergar was abducted by an IRA unit who killed him a few days later when negotiations for a £2 million ransom had stalled and the horse was becoming uncontrollable. His remains have never been found. The incident has been the inspiration for several books, documentaries, and a movie. He was the third famous race horse in history to be kidnapped. The other two were Carnauba and Fanfreluche.

Northern Ireland documentary investigates disappearance of Shergar

"Who Kidnapped Shergar?", a documentary investigating the kidnapping of champion Shergar on February 8, 1983, from the Aga Khan's Ballymany Stud in County Kildare, Ireland, will premiere on Northern Ireland's Channel 4 at 9 p.m. local time on March 18 to coincide with the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Mint Productions of Belfast is producing the show, which examines the bizarre events of Shergar's kidnapping by masked men and all the secrets, rumors, and conspiracy theories that surround it.

Former Irish Republican Army members have said that the kidnapping was a plot to extort ransom money from the Aga Khan, who bred and raced Shergar, but that it killed the stallion within a week because his handlers could not deal with him. The show also addresses theories that the New Orleans Mafia and Libyan President Muammar Gadaffi could be linked to the case.

Shergar won six of eight starts and earned $979,252 in two seasons. He won the Epsom Derby (Eng-G1) and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (Eng-G1) in 1981 en route to English champion three-year-old accolades. His only crop featured 16 winners—including five stakes winners and three graded stakes winners--from 30 starters. That crop included 1987 English highweight and Group 3 winner Maysoon (GB), three-time Group 1 winner Authaal, and Group 3 winner Tashtiya.

Shergar is a horse and Camilla "pleasing effective factors" are compared to Shergar. even if, in my opinion i imagine horses are a lot more effective positive looking than Camilla. besides, if Charles pick to have a "horse" for a spouse, then, allow him be. He likes to saddle a horsey spouse.

Shergar will be dead now. It was around 1978 when he was kidnapped and probably murdered for ransom, as it wasn't paid.
