My husband would like a pumpkin colored room (think Starbucks colors) and I can't seem to find the right shade. I looked online and found some great colors but when I went to Home Depot they looked completely different. I'm thinking of Sweet Mandarin (s-G-220) but a little lighter maybe? Can anyone help?

Also I'm thinking of adding a tiny area of a brighter orange. So if anyone can suggest a color that would look good with a Chartreuse (more yellow tones than green - think glow in the dark bone -lol)? The rooms would be seperated but I'd like them to look okay anyway.

Thank you!

um that's glow-in-the-dark...

I guess not everyone has a glow in the dark dog bone - lol...too many paint fumes!

Thanks twstdlzrd211. The trouble is I really don't know where to start with the color. I'm thinking something like your background color!

Kind of joking about the color...it's like this paint: http://www.homevisions.com/hvprod/prod_display1.asp?Product=85636&partner=108&CMB=&CP=00&pp=yes&afsrc=1&placeID=hvblog

just a little more yellow.

You can take any picture in, even out of a magazine, to home depot and they can match the color. So if you have any picture or any thing with the color you are wanting on it, you can take it in to the store, they put it through their funky computer and you get the exact color you want in any brand of paint you want. I've done it several times and they usually get it right on the mark.

Behr is a good quality paint, but you might come closer to matching your color if you go with a different mfr. Ralph Lauren has several in the orange tones, and I've also seen some beautiful pumpkin tones in the Americana collection. In most retailers, the person in the paint department will also be able to custom mix a color for you, although when you do this make sure you have plenty made up at the same time to assure an exact match in color. I 've had maint mixed to match fabric swatches, lampshades and even a china plate. Good luck. Persistence pays off.

I just remembered. check the Ty Pennington line of paint at Sears. There are some gorgeous colors that might be the Starbucks color. Someone had asked weeks ago where to get pistachio colored paint...it was there!

... I'm still thinking of that glow in the dark bone ..... Maybe your husband had too much Starbucks. ---help me!!!

Home Depot mixes / matches paint. I'm not sure if they can change a Behr color, but that should be doable.
Did you ask anyone in the department if they could match the color you want.
Might want to talk to someone in design while you are at it .... get some blending ideas for incorporating those other colors.

If you like the color of Sweet Mandarin but a little lighter, the people at the paint counter can reduce the formula by 25%, 50%, or 75%. Try just getting a quart mixed to sample it on your walls before you buy the gallon.
Did you look at the master color pallet by Glidden? They have compiled over 6,000 colors, organized by hues. That might help.
These orange colors may be a challenge to paint with, since they are saturated. I would recommend getting a tinted primer to help with coverage. Even with the tinted primer you will probably need to paint two coats.
Good luck with your project!
I'll look at those colors when I get to work.
