We believe that age eight, is when a child becomes accountable for their sins and actions. Previous to age eight, children are not accountable. So if a child dies in it's infancy, it is saved in the kingdom of heaven.

Just like I don't know why you have to be all baptized in the same church just to go to heaven all together and they also believe that you can become your own God once you die. But I did hear that the reason why they wait until age 8 is because at that age you should know the difference between right and wrong. I did practice Mormon for a couple of months, but when I found out about those 2 facts I just shared with you, I hit the road. That's just a bunch of crap in my eyes. There is only 1 GOD.

Same reason other religions do also. Because being baptized before your know right from wrong doesn't make sense. As part of Baptism is having your sins washed away they don't believe a newborn can have sin when it still has no concept of right or wrong. Mormons believe 8 yrs old is an age when you do understand what sin is and how to make decisions between right and wrong.

This is a law given (as recorded in Book of Mormon) that it is the age of accountibility. This is set by the Lord, LDS just follow the law.
Present day, lDS also require the consent of parents before any children of age can be baptized.

I am not a Mormon but as a Baptist in the northern part of New York. I got baptized at 14 so that I could accept Jesus as my savior. When I got Married in Florida at the age of 21 in a baptist church I had to be re baptized again as a southern baptist to reaffirm Jesus as my savior. I also have questioned the many different traditions of the many different religions. I will watch as your answers come in. When my son had my grand children baptized as Methodist they were less than 1 years old. I told my son that I left it up to him to decide which religion he wanted to be and if he wanted to accept Jesus as his savior. I await for you answers and Good Luck and God Bless.

Same reason other groups suggest an "age of accountability" for baptism. Pointless to baptize someone who can't understand the process, or has no "sin" to be absolved by baptism.
