I can easily make a head of lettuce stay fresh for more than two weeks. I store it, in the fridge, in an air tight bag. Nothing special, just what you have hanging around. And for use peel off a leaf at a time. That's the big thing to remember. As soon as you cut the head you're on a timetable. It will go bad, brown & wilty within a day or two. If it's really damp you can add a paper towel loosely around the head before you put it in the bag.

Submerge lettuce completely in a tupperware of water & it will last about a week in refrigerator. Try not to let the water freeze & make sure the lettuce is completely covered in water.Another way would be to keep the lettuce as dry as possible by using a salad spinner or clean dish towels & or paper towels then place the lettuce & dry papertowels in a sealed plastic bag, push out as much air as you can, Good luck

about a week in the vegitqble crisper drawer in your 'fridge. Beynd that, it'll start to turn brown and look rather unappealing I have occasionally forgotten about a bit of lettuce in my fridge for two weeks, and found that it's still edible - but definitely visually unappealing. I throw it out at that point and make a note to pay better attention to what's in the bottom/back of the fridge. I don't want what grows back in there to get so rambunctious it attacks my little dog next time I open the icebox door!

a couple of days, 4 if iceberg lettuce (hardier, less taste, no vitamins). after that it is limp and does not have any vitamin left...
best to wash it right away in cool water, drain it, spin it (a salad spinner is a kitchen essential), and store it in a large zip lock with a paper towel to absorb humidity. Use within 2 days.
ah, and - you cannot freeze it.
