Are you serious? Why would you bring a Knife (Sword) to a Gun fight. Archers??? Get real people carry automatic weapons (Guns) these days . And if you mean calvary like in the old days with horses; why? Why would subject a living animal to this when you can use armored vehicles, tanks and helos. Vehicles don't get tired they break down but u just replace parts and there ready to go again. Beside panzee animal lovers would never let horses go into harm's way

Swordsmen on the battlefield would be nothing but targets for riflemen. For close in combat a bayonet either mounted on a rifle or handheld is the best. There are also combat knives that have been developed for the military. Archers and cavalry may sound better than tanks and artillery but in today's battlefield are useless. Horses are used by some police departments and do have uses especialy in crowd control.

Cavalry was still used in World War 2 and is currently being used by the US Army in Afghanistan (infantry units are using horses to move throughout the mountains)
But as for the rest.... No swordsmen and archers are not practical. You don't need a D20 to tell you, you're going to get shot bringing a sword to a gun fight.

In military operations a large 3 foot sword would not be practical, maybe a smaller dagger. Swords similar to ones from the middle ages would be too large and it would to hard to be discrete when you have to carry a large sword. Never bring a sword to a gunfight. Archery would be too impractical against guns too many things affect the way an arrow travels. Cavalry is used today in our military forces. Tanks are essentially modern day cavalry just a lot faster and more powerful than men on horses. In Law Enforcement they still have Police on horseback, swords would be too hard to run with, and archery would not really help in a police chase guns are more accurate and are easier to carry and its easier to use them when you're running.

Nah, warfare's a bit closer sometimes, but it's still too far away for swords. A guy with a gun's got a distance advantage, and a guy with a knife will get in too close too quickly for a sword to be practical. The bow weapons may have some value, but it'd be more for clandestine situations where silence is needed.

In CQB you want a short weapon. The speed at which you can move the tip (barrel) onto a new aimpoint & the least amount of movement to get it there while providing the least threat to the crowd of friendlies around you. Imagine if you were clearing a room swat style with 5 guys... then a guy pops out 20 feet across the room with a shotgun. You'd have to close that distance with valuable time for him to kill you.

In war nothing is certain, cause on the battlefield. Where can you get the proper bullets to fit in you gun or automatic weapon you a using or the parts to replace it when it breaks. What about killing any enemy without anyone else knowing. Like Charlemagne said, " Let my armies be the rocks in the earth and the birds in the sky." Meaning improvise in battle.

In close quarter combat, it never hurts to have a finely honed blade at your side, guns jam, blades just cut cut cut, as far as archery is concerned, a bow and arrow is good for stealthy dispatch of your enemy under the circumstance that you are well trained, but cavalry is kind of outdated.

Human nature has not changed in the last 2000 years or ever before that. That is why the concept of God is as practical today as in Biblical times.

I would say swordsmen if skilled enough would be practical. Why? The most skilled swordsman can deflect a bullet at lightning speed thats not just a Hollywood illusion, you just have to train hard enough to master it.
