even with the strongest of household cleaners and chemicals, you could never totally be rid of it.
i dont know your situation, but i'd advise you to fork out the money and remove the carpet. but don't hire anybody, do it yourself.
oh, and make sure to clean the walls and ceilings beforehand, just because you wouldnt want residue and blood stains to messup your new carpets.

Put some cold water into a small jug, add two tablespoonfuls of salt. Mix well and sponge the carpet with this, mopping it with kitchen roll each time. Don't wet it through.

get a new carpet, put a layer of resin on the cement before you lay the new carpet, and paint the walls with at least three coats.

a * are you shooting rats in the house again? I would have thought you would have learned your lesson the last time. Do I need to loan you a foot hold trap? They are much more tidy. You can carry the rat OUTSIDE to shoot it.
