My husband, children and I went to my parent's house and had a BBQ. We gave my father a portable DVD player because he's getting ready to start dialysis and he'll need something to pass the time during the sessions. He loved it! My husband thinks he might want an IPod but we don't know anything about them yet. We are technologicaly illiterate so we have much to learn.

I'm sure my father enjoyed his present. I couldn't give him a item because he has everything already. The hottest watches, the hottest clothing, the recent handsome shoes. All sets you can find for men. I just gave him a $100 so he can add something else to his collection.

My father works away from home and the area where he stays recently had some power surges during a storm. A bunch of his stuff got hit by the storm and did not work anymore. I thought it would be nice to replace something that got ruined that I could afford. I bought him a new alarm clock.

My father died in Vietnam when I was two years old. I have never had the chance to "celebrate" Father's Day with him, but every year I say a prayer thanking him for making me what I am today.

My dad was on vacation on fathers day, so my sister came up from where she lives and we delivered balloons to his job. He is 55 and was so embarrassed. Along with the balloons I bought him a picture frame that had a saying about dads. Had something about I thank god that he picked you to be my dad and that I would never change it. Then we put a family picture of my sister, me, my husband and the 4 grand-kids. A bookmark for his bible that said worlds greatest grandfather.

We went over and planted some flowers for mom and some tomato plants for dad. All different kinds of tomatos. It cost more than just buying them, but he loves them. He always is telling stories about the birds and squirrels trying to eat them, him trying to beat them to the ripe ones, watching the blooms become small green globes that grow and grow. Each day is now something new. Oh, we also washed and trimmed his dog.

I just went and hung out at my parent's place. I gave him a DVD boxed set of the first season of Stargate: SG-1 and he liked it a lot.
