If God and Jesus really did happen, and God made heaven and earth, why didn't he or both let the people on earth know the earth is round, and give the people instant knowlege about what could be used for medicine, food, hygiene, and you can imagine the list. The knowlege had to of been there if he God made heaven and earth so why all the secreats and let peaple suffer ever since and or untll thngs came about. Plus God or Jesue never did mention people living in north america, south america, or the animals or a billion others things.....this is why I have such a hard time believing the bible, and why Darwin got my attention a looooooog time ago.

I'm with you, my friend! I tried until I was 40, and gave up! It is SO FREEING to not have to stand on my head, to do tricks, to jump through religious hoops for someone or something that isn't there anyway!! It's Father's Day, and my father used to tell me: "Like Mary said to Joseph: Who needs ya'??!". I don't need the kind of sadistic God that would let his children suffer the way we have, knowing he could have done A LOT BETTER WITH US!!! Adam and Eve never spoke for me!! So, none of it makes ANY sense, and it just KILLS ME when those bible-thumping fanatics start belching passages from a bastardized book written far too long ago to be relevant any more!! If this is the best that God can do, I AM NOT IMPRESSED!! (Thanks, George Carlin for that line!).

And thank you for a totally relevant question!!

BRO: I know this is from 8 years ago (lol), but it hit home for me..... I think a lot of the people who responded to you missed the point of you were trying to say. I know exactly what you are talking about, because I too have tried to believe in God and Jesus, but just can't seem to connect with them. When I took a world religions course in college, it all made sense to me - most religions share a creation story, have some sort of "god" or "god/desses", and teach people how to live with one another. I feel that religions were started as a way to help people understand the world around them, when there was no technology or science around. I also feel that religion serves as a way to give people comfort and hope in many situations. I am a good person, treat others with respect and love, and I think that should be enough. You can't force someone into believing something. It just doesn't work.

Try reading the Gospel of John with emphasis on the word "believe".

Belief is not an effort, but it a gift that you either have or don't have. For example, the bible assumes the existence of God; it is not debated.

Most people think the bible is a conversion manual, but for the Christian it is the word of God given to man by the prophets. You either believe this or you don't.

God created the heavens and the earth (big bang in scientific terminology). The word "create" is used three times. You will see that what man observes and what God reveals may not be so different as you think. Again this is belief.

Jesus, as witnessed by the Gospels, ministered to the Jews. He was the Jewish messiah, not something else. To be short, Jesus died, God raised Jesus from the dead (this is where our hope for eternal life comes from), and the Jesus will return. Again focus on the Gospels (and their references to the Old Testament). Again this is another belief, the central belief of Christianity.

There are many things that I could state that are beliefs, for example, do you believe the four witnesses?

Finally believe what you will, but make sure your beliefs are focus on heaven (heaven is where God is) and not on earth (earth is where man is).

The key here is to focus on your belief. I offer the Christian message for you to consider.

People moved to other places like North and South America. Animals were mentioned in Gensis of their creation and Adam naming each one before the fall.

I really do not know how God didn't give us food. You know you are right he didn't drop hamburgers from the sky for man. He provided for everything we have now. Nothing we have now we have not made/created/invented without the works of God.

Alot of the things listed is again peoples choice, hygiene for example, you will not die if you dont practice same hygiene as someone who is obsessed with it, one just smells better. And we were given knowledge instantly.. the knowledge of Good and Evil.

Let me just give you an analogy: JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE LONG (or untrimmed) HAIR, IT MEANS THAT BARBERS (or hair trimmers) DO NOT EXIST. IN REALITY WE ALL KNOW THAT BARBERS DO EXIST. ONLY THAT THOSE PEOPLE WITH LONG HAIR DO NOT SEEK THE HELP OF A BARBER THAT'S WHY THEY HAVE LONG HAIR.

You have said that you have tried to believe in God... but did you actually come to Him for guidance? There are barbers alright, but they do not go around telling everyone to have a haircut. As someone said above, it is called "freewill".. you can decide whether to have a haircut or not. The same is true with some of the facts of life... the knwoledge/idea have all been there... but God allows people to discover them. That's one of the mysteries of life...

Read the bible.. you will discover that these places that you've mentioned are already there. They only have a different name. (For example, Iran was Mesopotamia and Iraq was Persia.. etc)

When Adam and Eve were in the garden, God talked with them. He gave them rule over all the land and every living creature, therefore, He must have taught them all they needed to know to do the work He gave them to do. For God to fill man's finite mind with infinite knowledge would be like an adult trying to fill an infants mind with all the knowledge they possess, it just wouldn't make any sense. To think of all the complexities of this world and try to believe that it all took place with one "big bang", takes more faith than I could ever have. Where did the things to make the "big bang" come from? If you say,"they were just there". Then could it not be possible that God too, was there and created all things? The answers to most all of your questions can be found in God's Word and He would be more than happy to help you understand, if you truly seek Him.

I hope what I say here helps. I was born in a Christian home, since I was three my mom sent me to Sunday school. He a lot of trouble growing up. As I grew older, and life and relationships got more complicated and challenging, I made so many bad decisions. To make the looong story short, I got diagnosed with SEVER DEPRESSION a while ago!! I couldn't believe it! Me? I knew the Lord, the bible, and I could go on and on. I don't wish this for anyone, but where was my faith? In the midst of all this trouble and hardship, someone encouraged me and told me "FAITH IS A GIFT FROM GOD AND HE GIVES IT TO US FREELY, IF WE ASK FOR IT." Also, the Bible says "faith comes form hearing, hearing the word of God." So, have you ever read his word out loud to yourself. It might help you. and finally.....simply ask him, and he will give you the faith you need to belive. :) Read His word! It works, because HE IS ALIVE AND HIS HOLY SPIRIT WILL LEAD YOU TO THE RIGHT WAY.

Ok, my oppinions on this is that God wanted us to explore the world by oursleves. If God told us everything what would be the purpose of life? The Bible teaches us about life and we learn to compare our problems to the ones in the bible. I know most will disagree and say that life would be better if nothing was hard and everything was given to us, but remember the grass is always greener on the other side. It's your train of thought and your oppinion.

What in the world makes you think God needs to share all his knowledge with us? That's what our brains are for. To find things out. If you have a child do you tell them everything you know by the time they're 2? No, you don't. a child isn't interested and can't handle and understand all that info anyway. It's not different for us. We are his children. He's letting us grow up to be who we are.
