There are a lot of ways to choose a name, and there is also a lot of pressure, especially from friends and family. Just remember this is the first in a long line of neverending choices you will have to make when it comes to the little person so it just boils down to assessing your values, gathering information, then making the big choice, which in this case can always be changed.
1) Discuss with your partner some questions to narrow down your values: do you prefer traditional or unique? Is there anyone you would like to honour or a name that gets passed down in your family that you like? How important are traditional meanings or etymology behind your choices?
2) Baby name books and internet sites are great resources. Also asking around is good, but usually people get a little touchy or pushy so you may want to avoid someone else's opinions.
3) Please please please try to remember that your child will have to face the world everyday with their name as an identifying mark. For example: something that rhymes with a body part makes life difficult on the playground.
4) Follow your instincts.

I think the name Starkeisha would be better as just Keisha. Keisha is a really nice name. Personally i love the Name Narell though:)

I'd probably like to have some potential names picked out before the baby was delivered. Just make a list of your top 10 names (boys and girls) and then you and your spouse can choose which one you both like. If you don't know the sex - then pick your favorite boy or girl name so you will be ready when the baby is delivered.

We both agreed that we would wait until after the birth to decide on the final name. We wanted to see and hold the child to help in determining the name. Up until this time, we had discussed some of the names, and even the first and middle name combinations. We only mentioned the outrageous ones to the family and friends, and kept the more personal choices close to the vest. After the baby was born, we knew we had limited the name to a final set. Finally we selected on from a hat...it was the one that we both wanted in our hearts. Good luck, we saw this a very special occasion.

Some people like to use family names, others like to read names in a book and understand thier meanings to decide, some like to wait till the baby is born efore naming the child, and some people just like to use names, that they already like. To each his own.

I like names that MEAN something. Kids like to ask "where did you get your name?" Nice to have a story... could be a serious one or even a funny one. Like "I met your mamma in Florida so we named you Florida"... or "You were born in June so we named you June". Could be "I loved the strong woman my favorite novel". Just pick a name that has a meaning to your family is better than one pulled out of the air.
Then pick a few names and when you meet your child look at him/her and see if one seems to "fit".
And before giving the baby the name...
Check the meaning of names in a Baby Book or online.
Check to see if the initials spell something dumb... like DUM.
Figure if they are difficult to spell or if the name would represent something you do NOT want it to. Such as an Irish name if you dont want your kid to have one, etc.

Most people decide on the name first. However, it can always change. I had a name picked out for my daughter and when I saw her I changed it to what I thought fit better. Good luck.

First you want a name that's not common, Then you don't want the kids to tease him or her about they name when they become older, take the moms name and the fathers name and somehow blend it together or use your name. My husband's name starts with and A, so all my kids start with an A, with different middle initials.
Very original for me.

You and your wife should better discuss what name you should give or you can also go to library and browse the name book.
In my opinion, if the baby is boy, you should give like some siger star or popular name. But for girl, you should give something like
rossy or stephanie.
