I have had it with this cat!...I love him dearly, but he keeps "spraying" everything!...Mostly my curtains.....the ones that high up...he is climbing the shelves to get to them....I have taken them all down & washed them all...I have put Lysol on them....I have used almost every trick I have heard to do...I am looking for more suggestions.....
There is another male cat here...is only 7 mo's old.....& a "fixed" female cat....They are in/out cats.....but everytime this one comes in....he feels he has to spray something....so I put him back out...if I leave him in...he will walk around the house & spray anything he sees....he has even sprayed my daughter's foot one day...I am sooo frustrated...I cant get rid of him...he belongs to my cousin....(who also lives in the house)...but the house is beginning to smell like CAT!.....UGH!....HELP!...

It is true if you get them fixed after they have started spraying they might continue for lots of reasons...insecurity sounds like what is going on...he probably senses you wanting to get rid of him and being stressed he is only doing what comes natural.
There is a solution but very hard to do.
First you have to get rid of the smell completely, get a blacklite and find every place that he has sprayed and use baking soda and odor removers they sell at pet stores.
Once you have done that what you do is get a rag that is damp and wipe his head with it then take it to the spots that he marked and wipe the rag with his scent on that area.
Cats mark using 2 methods one by rubbing their head on it and the second is spraying. Once the cat smells his scent he will only mark by rubbing his head on it because that is the scent he smells and he will automatically repeat it.
But it will only work if you are successful in removing all the spraying smells throughout your house. It is a lot of hard work but it does work.

There are a few things that might be going on with your cat.
One thing for you to do is to take down you curtains and replace them with either a roll up shade or blinds or nothing at all.
If your cat isn't fixed then take him in for that,
I also suggest that your cat is very jealous of the other make cat you have.
One question for you, why on earth did you ever get another make cat? Didn't you know that problems like this would occur?
If he is marking his territory because of the other male cat then you have to decide if having two male cats is worth all the problems you're having with spraying?
Go to your vet and ask his/her advice on this matter before you do anything at all except taking down your curtains of course.
My brother had two male cats at one time and he had the same problem but it took him several years before he took them both in to get fixed and then the problem went away.
The chooses are yours and only yours to make and please don't pay attention to those to say to get rid of your cat because he is a part of your life and if you didn't care about him so much you wouldn't have asked for help here.
I wish you all the very best and keep using the Lysol too.
There is a product called urine begone that will take smell away for good as will as clean it up completely too and you can find it on the Internet as well.

replace the carpet or somethin'...i'm not sure usually a cat will stop spraying after it is fixed...you know what though, if this cat is grown and you got this other 7mo old later after the other one was fixed already then the arrival of the 7mo old could have made him want to start because he feels threatened by the other male even though it's a kitty still...ask your vet what to do or if you really can't take it see if you have a friend that doesn't have any animals to take him...he might not spray if he's the only one...good luck

It might seem mean, But Since He is already fixed, which usualy takes care of the spraying problem, I would say the old squirt bottle, with plain water, everytime, and only when he sprays, may eventualy make him understand. Its a natural act your up against, here, but cats are pretty smart, he doesnt think he's doing anything wrong, but if you are consistant, he may eventualy get the idea.

Your cat is marking its territory. For some reason, your cat believes its territorial boundaries are being crossed.
Sometimes, a cat will spray as a sign of anger or neglect. Could puss be feeling left out or crowded?
There could be a urinary tract infection going on too. May be wise to call your vet just to be safe.

well he won't stop spraying cause you have another male cat in there. so to really fix it you can get rid of him. it's not a good idea to have to male cat's in the same house. unless they are fixed. you are suppose to get them fix before they are 6 month's. if you get them fix before they know how to spray then they don't know how to spray. but if you get them fixed after they spray they still can spray cause they know how to spray. the cat is marking is territory cause there is another male cat in there.and you have to get something that has like neutralizer in it to get rid of the smell also.

because Gizmo likes to eat, you need to objective in undemanding words feeding him at particular cases in the course of the day. i comprehend this would suck for him in the starting up, yet finally it ought to help. change him to a proper notch indoor cat food. i'd also perchance purchase him some grass to munch on (it helps cats digest and they pick some eco-friendly of their weight-relief plan because they don't get any in dry food.) deal with him to component of a can once a week or some healthful treats (like temptations.) this way he's conscious you're not any further attempting to starve him. i imagine see you later as he does no longer bypass over the 30 lb mark, he should be ok. also, have him appeared at on the vet. they could have a answer as to a thanks to get him to sit down up at the same time as eating. wish Gizmo drops some kilos quickly! good success!

You dont have to get rid of him just get him fixed. He is just letting the other cats know this is his house. After he is fixed he will chill out.
