for some reason, whenever a guy holds the door open to allow me to go ahead of him, i always think it is so he can check out my a$$ as I walk past. a brought this up with my boyfriend and some other male friends, they insist that boys are just being polite when they do this, but my girl friends say that they know for sure that guys do check out girls asses when they are holding the door open for them, what is your experience with this? am i just being paranoid?

wow, very mixed answers. one thing i thought i should add to explain why i was driven to get to the bottom of this one particular paranoia of mine, the very same day i brought this up with my friends, i was walking into a building and i got to the door at the same time as my professor, who i spend a lot of time with because he is also my academic advisor, he held the door open for me and i must say i have never been more self conscious walking though a door in my life. now I know that my professor was probably not checking me out, but one will wonder.

It is my understanding that ~most~ straight men look at ~every~ woman's body. Tall ones, short ones, fat ones or skinny, old or young; if she walks by, he looks.

I bet they don't hold the door in order to look at your bottom, but if it's there, they look. It's how they're made.

If men want to check out your butt, they will do it whether or not they are holding the door for you or not. You don't have eyes in the back of your head so you don't know how often they're checkin you out. As far as men holding the door, I'm from SC and I have always considered it RUDE when a guy doesn't hold the door open. (some are really heavy and i'm a petite girl!!) And I always try to hold the door for people too (especially if they're old or have children!). It's a polite thing to do and I don't think enough people do it.

Everyone is checking out your butt all the time. Let people open doors for you!!!

When I hold a door open for a lady, or another guy for that matter it's because I am trying to be considerate for others. The thought that this is going to be a new oppourtunity for me to check out a fine a$$ doesn't enter my mind at the time. I take more notice as to whether or not I get a polite thank you. If you have an a$$ that guys find worth noticing, I doubt that it only happens as you pass through a doorway. Try to learn to enjoy it before gravity takes over.

Yes, you're being paranoid. If a guy holds the door open for you, you should take it as a sign that he's being polite and respectful. Not a lot of guys these days are like that, so just enjoy it.

Some guys are assholes, and they are really good at disguising as nice ones. There are those who were raised to hold open doors, pull out chairs, and other polite manners. If a guy pulls open a door for me and I walk through and he does stare-oh well, I'm taken, and he can look all he wants. And if you got a booty, they will stare no matter the circumstances.

I'm sure that there are some guys that do check out your rear end, but I don't think it's the reason. They do it to be polite, and they were likely raised to open doors and to be chivalrous in general.

I'm not sure why it would bother someone so much that they are being admired anyway, though. I'd take it as a compliment and remember that I check guys out, too.

They are doing both! If you are a good looking girl, they will look, they can't help it, it is just their nature, but on the other hand, they are being mannerly, thoughtful and mature to hold the door open for a female too! I have seen many young good looking boys and men hold doors open for, fat, middle aged and the elderly, and they certainly are NOT checking THEIR a**es out! You are being just a little bit paranoid, but if you are good looking, they WILL look!

Hmmm let me think about this for a moment.I am wondering do you think when a man asks you a question is he checking out your brain or does he really want an answer. When a man pulls your chair out for you to sit is he really checking out the top of your head as you sit. When a man slaps you across the *** he is checking out your *** not when he holds a door for you.

I do it for real politeness, not TO check out their asses. But I will not just close my eyes, NOT to check them out.

Anyway, let me tell you we don't need to hold the door open for you, to check out whatever we want to check out. There are other ways, you know. So I'd say when a guy holds the door open for you, it's MAINLY because he wants to be polite.

I think most of the men who take the time to hold the door for a woman are practicing the manners they learned. If they get a look at your ***, who cares as long as they don't touch when they shouldn't.

Depends on the guy. My guy is being polite (he holds the door open for fat old men, too... >.<). I'd say it's 50/50. Some gues are polite, SOME guys are checking your a$$. Does the guy check OTHER parts of you? If yes, assume a$$.
