Media Center Edition is better, though it built on Win XP, but it has some cool stuffs that Win XP does have. Like the Media Center for TV recording, view live TV (need optional TV card) and a cool taskbar. You can easier work with your media with Media center

XP Home is Windows for the general home user with no frills. XP Professional is for the corporate network environment mainly, there are a few extras involved, but that is the main difference. And Media Center is for the user who wishes to use their computer as a part of their in-home or in-office media collection/library, you can use it more effectively for media sharing abilities. I suggest you look at Microsoft.com and compare the three to determine which is best for you.

XP Home is the basic edition (meaning the lowest of the bunch and is fine for most home users)
XP Professional has extra features such as enhanced networking, etc. (usually for businesses and power users)
Media Centre is the newest of the three (as XP for 64 bit machines is the newest version of XP but is only for 64 bit machines) Media Centre focuses on the audio/video aspects so it's for home users who want to use it for their music centre

Each one is built to fit your individual needs. Home edition is the basics, Media Center is geared more towards people who like to play pc games, burn CDs and DVDs, etc and the Professional is for businesses (usually small or home-based).

I just got a Media Center edition. I don't know all the inns and outs, but really like it so far. If you're into graphics, as I am, look to your objectives.
I have yet to install graphic editing program...but feel this system will respond with satisfaction+.

Depends on your needs and wants.
XP PRO - it's got more drivers but not as many features, better for word processing and such, not too many problems with it
XP HOME - more help menus, lots of mediocre every-things, almost no problems
MEDIA CENTRE - best for watching tv, playing movies, higher end games, has lots of photo-editing capabilities, has a lot of problems though
Unless you have a real need for media centre I recommend XP home myself. Unless you need it for business or school, then it's XP pro.

domicile windows media center is domicile windows xp with domicile windows multimedia utility pre put in. you could not presently purchase domicile windows media center on my own it in user-friendly terms comes from authorized prebuilt pc companies. There are standards to place in media center besides at the same time with a million.8ghz P4 processor or extra clever... Media center additionally has subjects with driving force compatibility. i could say presently domicile windows xp expert sp2 is the traditional of compatibility. the way forward for domicile windows is in X64 or Vista. Media center isn't in all probability all that great. I regarded on ebay and in case you look on the photos it for sure says on the cd label "for distribution with a clean laptop in user-friendly terms" Ebay is ghettofied yet sure you will come across sturdy bargains on it in case you look difficult adequate.

Media Center Edition has more elements for digital photographs and music downloading if you do that stuff, so I guess it would be a better choice.
