No, I never could find any of the rubber pants to put over the cloth diapers, so I stuck to the disposable diapers for my daughter.

I'm sorry, I'm not a mom and I don't have any babies but I do wear cloth diapers and plastic pants. I'm incontinent and have to wear diapers 24 / 7 and through experience, I have found cloth to be the best. I've word diposables as well as cloth and cloth is he only way to go. I have not diaper rashes with cloth diapers, with disposables, I had them all the time. Since I have to wear the from now on I did some figuring and found that cloth would definitely be a lot cheaper in the long run compared to disposable even including the laundering of them. Not to mention how much better for the environment it would be than to throwing all that paper, plastic and human waste into our landfills to where they will take decades to decay. I know there are better cloth diapering ways for babies out there than the old fashioned cloth, pins and plastic/rubber pants. The only problem is that I can't find them in adult sizes and I don't know anything about making my own. I wouldn't mind finding out more about them if anyone knows. I made what I now wear, I wear contour cloth with elastic in the waist and leg openings. If need be, I will wear a second one to make sure I have enough to absorb whatever I need. Cloth really is the best way to go. Good luck.

most of the covers these days are made of PUL fabric (Polyurethane Laminate) which is basically waterproof OR wool, as the previous poster mentioned. Both can remain waterproof with minor maintenance and come in a lot of colors and prints.
look for bummis, prowraps and stacinators. Also, if you are afraid of pins, they make this neat thing called a snappi that holds the diaper on.

cloth and pins yes but not the rubber pants they trap too much moisture and are hard to clean, they trap bacteria and can cause yeast infection (just like disposables)
skip the rubber or plastic and get wool (which doesn't need cleaning except once a month or so)

i had to when my boys were infants because they were allergic to something in disposable diapers. it was cheaper in the end and they potty trained quicker, because they didn't like the diaper to be wet at all,for even a moment.
