ok, here's the question. and i know this may seem stupid to some ppl, but i'm just curious.

i have NEVER used a racial slur in my life, nor do i plan to. i have friends of all different races, religious beliefs, sexual orientations... you name it.

now, have you ever seen the show the boondocks? they use the "n word" all the time. i think the show is friggin hilarious, they rip on all races. and i had a friend in high school that used to call me "the n word" in gym all the time. but he did it in the same way he used it towards his black friends (he was black, btw). i was never offended by it. he never said it out of hate.
now, if i'm telling someone about the show, or what happened in gym, is it ok for me to repeat what they're saying? or is that offensive? or..... well, whats the protocol here?

i know what you guys mean, and its not like i'm gonna tell my friends about this stuff while i'm in line at the bank or whatever. i just wanted to see what a black person's opinion would be. if i'm repeating what i heard, and i'm obviously not saying anything out of malice, is it ok for me to REPEAT what i heard? not to use those words myself, just explain what i saw. in that context, would that be considered offensive? i'm just curious as to what different ppl's views are.

it has to be understood that there is alot of words people of all racist make up.but that word is not the same words as the whites use way back when its a slang term thats not even spelled the same i wouldnt worry about it . as long as it doesnt affect anyone . i see no problem.

Here's a tip for you, dude. If you have to think twice about saying it, don't say it at all. With something like this, different people react differently. Some wouldn't think anything of it, others would call you a whore and a bigot. I would suggest playing on the safe side of the court in this instance.

Edit: Didn't look close enough at the avatar and called you a chick. :-P

I'm black and I understand where your coming from but I would lay low on the N word in public, take the story to a private setting.

White and ******. I just wrote two words. one must be dotted. That means you shouldn't use it. I don't really care if I'm called a ******. The problem is the manner used. I call my best friend monkey, dog anything you think of. It means nothing.

In a private setting with good friends, why the heck not, as long as everybody knows that you are just telling a story. In public, I would refrain from using using any derogatory statement, be it n*gga, cracker, d*ke, ..etc, and that goes for me and everybody else.

~~personally, i would leave out the n word, especially because there could be people that might over hear the conversation and be highly offended by it.~~
