The only really unique thing about Pattaya is an ocean full of bargirls.. maybe more than anywhere.. the beaches are not great, the waters are polluted - maybe some of the worst in all thailand.. and the town itself is congested and crowded - - most people go for the nightlife...

Nothing that unique. It is just like any other beach resorts. Many theme parks in the vicinity and sea sports to do. The beach is so-so. What makes it unique is the people. The Thais are very hospitable people and they like to make your stay enjoyable. That is why people go back again and again. So try Pattaya and see if you would like to go back again.

The "Play-for-pay" girls cost less than in Bangkok. Bar scene is different, more open air beer bars and few GoGos. The beach is filthy, NOT a family destination.
