I don't believe that Jesus was the founder of Christianity. he was a devout Jew. His disciples spread his teaching after he was crucified and a long time after his death, Christianity was formed as an institution. The books of the new testament don't really say that Jesus was like..."hey, i have a new religion for you." what he was saying was...according to my religious, Judaism, all of ya'll are messing up!, by the way, i am the Messiah...the one the Jews are waiting for...and here i am to challenge you to stick to Judaism and little more closely and maybe we should try some new things too..." The gospels are incomplete...in fact there are other gospels that were left out like the gospel of Mary Magdalena and Thomas...each one kicked it with Jesus but they had a bit of a different view than the others...the others who were the ones who founded the religion....
i respect Christianity and its teachings though i am not a follower. A good look at historical jesus can be interesting.

No, Jesus did not establish a church while He was here. That was the doing of all those who followed after he passed on and left humans to muddle on without Him again. Jesus was here to set the record straight, to warn us of how off track we had gotten, and to take upon His own shoulders the sin of the world so we could ALL go home again. We live in a state of sin, and as sin is in defentition (within the christian faith) of unclean, and nothing unclean can go to heaven, He provided a way to cleanse us so we could return. It is that simple. I am a christian and beleave firmly we each have our individual right to believe how we choose. It is not up to anyone else to determine our choice for us and we have no rights to force beliefs onto any others. That is wrong thinking on the part of some I am sad to say. Only Jesus has any right to make judgments on others. However, it seems to be a very large part of human nature to be extreamly judgemental. Which is the entire point. Why would God give us commandments which were easy to keep? How would that help us grow as individuals? It doesn't in my books. I have problems with judging others and I try hard each day to not do that. How much easier is it when it is thought a religion grants that right? Wrong thinking and incorrect understanding of christian scripture, but this is MY beleaf.

The followers of Christ were first called Christians in Antioch. Prior to this, the followers of "The Way" were mostly Jews. Christ was not a "founder", but what He preached became the foundation of those who believed in who He was and what He did. Jesus IS the way, truth and life. Christians know with a certainty that no one can come to know the living God except through Him.

Paul was the founder of the new religion, based on the teachings of Jesus, that became known as Christianity. Jesus was just a devout Jew trying to live a Jewish life the best way he knew.

The founder of Christianity is Jesus Christ.

The word Christianity means to be Christ like. After the death and resurrection of Jesus his followers started living their lives just as did. These were the first Christians.

Jesus Christ is Christianity. Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said to Paul, "Do you think that in such a short time you can persuade me to be a Christian?" and also 1 peter 4:17 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

Jesus preached the Christian message, his 1st followers were Jews but when several Gentiles began converting and realizing they did not have to become Jews 1st this led to calling the Faith the Christian faith and eventually Christianity broke off from being a Jewish sect (although a previous Pastor at my Church said we are Spiritual Jews).

Jesus is The Christ it is not His last name. He is the founder of Christianity in the sense that He is the basis on which we place our faith. So we take His name or rather His title... we follow the Christ.

I'd say, Paul. The religion now known as christianity is pretty close to what Paul preached in his epistles, but deviates considerably from what Jesus taught in his recorded sayings.

Roman Emperor Constantine invented what we call "Christianity."

Jesus, if he existed, was a Jew and did not advocate violating Jewish laws. That was Paul's idea and came to be accepted as "Christianity" when Constantine invented it in 325 CE (ad).

"Christ" does NOT mean "Jesus," and the Catholic church is not named after either Christ or Jesus. It is called the Universal Church. Catholic means universal in Latin.
