I have 4 young children and all I hear is why. I know they are interested in everything. Its kind of cute when they ask why to things you cant really ask why to. I probably hear it like 300 times a day. How many times do you hear that "why" word?

I don't have any children of my own, but this was a cute question. I have a couple younger siblings that ask it all the time when they're around -- so probably 50+ times a day -- but I never mind it.

My Mom says that when I asked too much when I was little, she always gave me a long word in response so that I wouldn't know what she meant and I'd stop. ^^;

I think it's cute.

I have 3 boys (7,6,2) and I hear "Why" from sun up to sun down. (And I swear they even say it in their sleep!!) They ask why about EVERYTHING!!!! It drives me crazy!! The worse part of this is that you would think the 2 yr old would be the one ask why the most, but he's not! It is a running tie between my 6 & 7 year old.

Thanks for asking this question - It's good to know that I am not the only one going threw this.

I have a 16 year old, and she still ask why. I do not hear it quit as much as you, but it sure seems like 300 times.

How many times can a child say "why" in 5 minutes.

With my kids I never had a why asker, but my nephew, OMG.........it got to the point where I would give him answer, he ask why, I'd tell him again and when he'd ask why again I'd ask him to tell me, it worked, made him stop long enough to listen to my answer, sort of became a game after a while, but he did learn about things and remember what he was told.

It helped with his speech as well, answer him in child friendly terms using proper language.

I think 300 times is a fair guess. But we should consider ourselves blessed - that we have children who our able to observe things around them and be thankful for their curiosity and desire to learn. There are parents out there who are not as fortunate.

My little niece who sometimes stays on my house, Rhea (3 years old), said WHY more than 10 times to me and my parents....Why that bird can fly?? why that television can show ugly people like that??? why I can eat that food?? wHY...Why...WHY??? Sometimes that make me crazy,I'm still 16 years old and sometimes doesn't have enough patient to handle her WHY... but that show that she's a smart girl and curious girl.. I'm still love her... Cause she's my only niece

Take care,

Dee

I don't have kids but I know how much I said it when I was young... They're just curious. It does kind of make you crazy though... They'll get away from it someday... Hopefully for your sake sooner rather than later!!

LMAO, if you hear it 300 I hear it 301. Children are naturally inquisitive, very thoughtful and loving. That "why," just messes everything up. . . "Why, mommy?". . . "Why?"
