They're not happy in the relationship, for whatever reasons (eg: lost of feelings, another guy/girl caught their eyes), and they do not know how to deal with their partner. They just don't know how to communicate this to them and thought they can keep this in the dark, but will end up hurting the partner even more.
Or, another case would be one of a selfish person. They want everything for their own gain and intentionally cheat without thinking about how the actions can hurt other people's feelings. I personally think it's harder to forgive these people... But we should always try.

That's a tough question.
My guess would be unhappiness. Something in that person's life is causing them unhappiness, therefore they seek happiness through a tryst with someone else, hoping that the person that they're having an affair with would make them feel better about themselves. The source of unhappiness could be the relationship that they're being unfaithful to, the unfaithful person him/herself, or pure old fashioned lust.

the very fact tht he/she doesnt like u enough to be faithful to you makes a person a cheat/unfaithful. but sumtimes the lure of money or lavish and perfect friendships may also make a person a cheat or unfaithful

there are many reasons why ppl cheat, sometimes when a person isnt happy they think they will find it somewhere elts , sometimes they think its thier only option . for whatever reason they cheat , they defently were unhappy in something
