I'm making cookies from scratch and am wondering if adding room temperature cream cheese changes the texture of the cookie. Would it make it softer, chewier, or worse? I've heard that sour cream can make cookies keep longer, so I wonder if cream cheese has any benefits.

it would provide a richer taste and softer texture when using it as half of the shortening or butter content. You might consider dropping the oven temperature to avoid burning the bottoms.

Cream Cheese makes wonderful cookies. Here's my recipe :)

1/2 cup butter
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla

In a mixing bowl, beat butter and cream cheese on medium-high speed for 30 seconds. Add half of the flour, the sugar, egg, baking powder, and vanilla. Beat til thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Cover; chill for 1 hour. Divide chilled dough in half. Roll out and cut into desired shapes. Bake 375 for 8 mins.
