Are cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off ok or do I need to do something with brie and filo pastry?

"those people" as you put it, eats normal food. He your brother, if you know what he likes from child hood or even as teenagers, eat what you think is satisfying and filling and try to enjoy his company and get reacquainted. You may not approve of him being gay, but he still your brother. Hate the sin love the sinner.
If you want to make something quik like meat tray and cheese and fruit tray, or quesadillas, or even BLT's with french fries, or even a hoagie sandwich.
Cucumber sandwiches are like made, that I know of, for womens baby showers and other lady get togethers.
If you are wanting to try something sweet, try fruit smoothies or ginger snap cookies and tea. Also peanuts and grape soda.
He may even want to have something that really reminded him of home sometime back. If you are into good ole soul food, make a him a hearty meal that will give him good memories of the visit. Like Collard greens and Ham hocks with cracklin cornbread and fried okra with sweetend tea or lemon aid and peach cobler and or banana pudding.
He your brother, ask him what he may like to have before he visits you. Just take the time to listen to him and you may be surprised on how things will go. You may even let him know of what is on your heart and how you feel. Just talk to him get reaquainted and go from their.

I ll tell you what.
at the restaurant I work 7 out of 10 are gay.
and you know what? they all eat the same.
Its boring to cook for them some times, but so is that.
Salmon fillet with butter potatoes and asparagus with Hollandaise sauce.
I m sure that you dont need a recipe for that, you know.

Maybe a sausage dipped in gerase to make it sink in to the belly easily?

Whatever you eat. They aren't that much different. Well ok they are but I'm sure they would still eat the same thing as anyone else. Unless they're vegetarian. Then they don't eat the same things.
