Especially since you already have
a pilots license.

You have to study the Qu'ran and embrace the true meaning of Islam with all of your heart and follow the five tenets of Islam.
Giving to the poor
Professing your faith
prayer 5 times a day
fasting
making a least one pilgrimage or "Hajj" to Mecca.
If there is a local Mosque in your city you can visit and find out how you can become a Muslim. Just wave at the police car sitting on surveillance outside.

i'm not sure what exacty your question is referring to, or what your being a pilot has to do with anything.
But i do know that to become a muslim, you must go and speak with the imam (head of the mosque) and he/she/they will make sure you have really thought about it. And then if you want to become muslim and have done your research and love the religion you testify, in the presence of witnesses, that there is no god but god and that prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) is his messenger.
and then you are a muslim.

you can say it between you and God alone. with truthful clean heart you say those two statments
(ashhado annaho la ilaha illa allah) (ashahado anna muhammadon rasolo allah)
which means. i witness and believe that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the prophet of Allah.
