Why are Californian Hispanic high schoolers so in to "Brown Pride"?

Brown Pride is what is all over a lot of their myspaces and they even wear shirts that say Brown Pride. Don't you think its a little racist and somewhat racial supremist? Do they do this because they feel insecure that they are a minority?

Well First I am not sure if they are the minority in California anymore. If any Whites did the same thing yes they would jump all over the racist issue. But for some reason when any other race buts stuff like this or gang colors on no one says racist, In America we want every one to be treated as equals there should be no Brown Pride, Mexican/American Associations. or any other kind of racial separations. In Schools that are there to teach should be teaching American Pride. And should not allow any gang or any other racist type Clothing while at school
What are they so proud of
Their President legalized drugs now the drug cartel's run the Country
They have the highest rate of drop outs
They have the highest rate of teenage pregnancy
The highest rate single parents
What is there to be proud of
They down the whites but they still want every thing we have but do not want to work for it.
If any White kids acted like these kids they would have been turned over to the police.
It is at the school we need to stop this racist attitude and teach equality, abstains, birth control go after the drop outs make them go back to school. If they are going to be here and not be a minority they need an education can you imagine 50 million people that can not read, write
or even talk inelegantly.
If it cost now wait until it gets to the 50 million then they will not have far to run to get to this Country from there as they will take this Country down like Mexico they are going to make California into Mexico a lazy none working State

Okay i'm answering to almost everyone that posted on here...When have you ever heard of Hispanic people ever doing any hate crimes? Or of being a part of a racist supremacist group? (Being a member of a gang is totally different from this. Not saying that its right, either) This is why someone who's "white" can't wear a shirt that says White Pride, because of the history (pain,anguish,death) that these people have created themselves. Some supremacist, racial groups have given white people's race a bad name. But to your question...Brown Pride isn't racist, doesn't have anything to do with racial supremacists either. Its definitenely not because they feel insecure about being a minority. Its more about being proud of our heritage and culture. Its not about the color of our skin either it goes way beyond that.

They want to throw the word racist around at us all the time, but we don't go around with "White Pride" on our shirts, do we? Who are the real racists here? Very clearly, it is the Mexicans who are always insulting us in our own country. The very ones who have no right to be here. The MS-13 gang bangers have that Brown Pride garbage written all over them too, a bunch of felons and thugs and overall pieces of crap. Yes, I can certainly see why they are proud.

Well if that many people were against you and your parents and your culture and language, you would defend yourself as well. They want to show that they are proud to be hispanic. I agree that if I wore a White Pride shirt that it would not get me positive attention, but I dont think it is a sign of supremecy, more like equality.

I think the are very racist, and always new they were, If that was a white kid wearing a shirt with white pride he would be labled a racists and expelled from school.

I never understood this about minorities, either. I mean it's great that they are proud of their heritages, but why can't we be proud of ours too? If we went around wearing t-shirts that say "White Pride," we would be called racists for sure!

My hispanic roommate commented when he saw those kids waving Mexican flags on TV that if they were forced to live in Mexico they would be screaming to come back within a day.

I saw a magazine in the supermarket called "Latina" today and thought about the furor that would arise if there was a magazine called "White Women."

All people have their own "___ Pride". Ever heard "Asian Pride?" I have. I have heard "Persian Pride" "Jewish Pride" "Black Pride" - all sorts of prides because its their way of fighting against a culture that says, "white/tanned skin, blond hair,blue eyes, and a small nose are the best features to have." When so many people say, "Mexicans r dum" it hurts, and so they look inside and say, "yes, we are people, yes we are proud, no, i am not dumb. I am proud of myself and my culture!"

Its not the same kind of pride that white suprimists have. Its proud to be who you are, but not hating everyone else who isn't (like other kinda prides).
