It's offensive that so many people have given in. I haven't and never will, I'll continue to wish a Merry Christmas to people, how they chose to respond is their choice.

I can not say I am offended by not saying Merry Christmas but I don't understand why we can not say it, when you get right down to it this is just one more freedom we are loosing. We the American people are loosing more and more freedoms all the time and don't realize it. That is what upsets me about not being able to say Merry Christmas it really falls into the same category as not being able to fly the flag of some states because it offends others or being able to smoke because it is said to cause cancer form second hand smoke or taking out the old stander ed books in the school system or even more important they took out prayer in schools and the last time I looked this country of ours was built on the foundation of God not what some liberal do good er thinks or has to say, Just watch one of these days we are going to wake up and have no freedom at all and the people will wonder where it went

I believe one of the best times of the year is Christmas, and one of the best things to wish someone is a merry christmas! If some jew (and I got nothing against jews, unless they push their religion bullshit too far) or other jackass has a problem with you wishing them something good, then that's their problem, they got issues. Even if they don't celebrate Christmas they should still realize that what you are wishing them is better than a kick in the nuts or an f-bomb (which seems to be thrown around rather liberally anymore) and what you are really implying is for them to have a happy holiday. I wish everyone a big fat merry Christmas this coming December!!

Even though I'm not exactly Christian, I still say Merry Christmas. I don't care if I offend anyone or not. Christmas is a great Holiday, my second favorite. The first is Halloween. I don't think it should be less acceptable to say Merry Christmas, but I don't think people should be offended if someone says Happy Holidays to them either. When it all comes down to it, we are becoming the wardens to our own "mind prisons" keeping each other trapped.

I agree with you. But in todays society it is no longer politically correct to say Merry Christmas because some people might get offended because they don't celebrate Christmas. I'm not Christain (or any Neo-Christain faith) but I have no problem with others saying Merry Christman because that are just giving you their well wishes. The problem is that our society keeps on trying to be SO "Politically Correct" that pretty soon we won't be able to say/do anything because it might offend someone. I do like the term happy holidays because (in my opinion) it covers all the different religious holidays and people who don't celebrate religious holidays (because in most cases they still get the day off of work and in my opinion any day not working IS a holiday). And no I don't think the push to say Happy Holidays is trying to take "Christ" out of christmas (unlike some other people). It's just trying to aknowledge that there are OTHER holidays than Christain Holidays and thats not a bad thing. The thing to remember is that if you rely upon others to recognize your own religions holiday, you might want to find another religion because in the end its about what YOU believe not what OTHERS want you to believe that matters.

I think what makes this country so special is we have people from so many different countries and faiths. I think this required any respectful American to be aware of the fact that we need to be sensitive of each other's belief. I guess being a Christian I sometimes get annoyed saying 'Happy Holidays' but even though Christianity constitutes the beliefs of most people there are also Buddhists, Hindus, Jewish etc. and their beliefs need to recognized. If I wasn't Christian and someone said 'Merry Christmas', I'd be annoyed.
Each religion has different practices, holidays and we have to adapt to each other.

You can say merry Christmas as long as I can wish you some Satanic Holiday. Feels kinds strange to be wished a happy day that you don't celebrate. I think the root of the problem is the fact that people just assume everyone is Christian, and ya know what, they ain't. So, I try to make sure I wish people their happy holiday. Or if I don't know, I'm pretty safe with "happy holidays."
Also when someone wishes me Merry Christmas, I usually respond with a "thanks but I don't celebrate christmas." They are usually being nice. And if they are persistent then I will wish them a happy Yule.

For a lot of people, Christmas is not a religious holiday, but has become more secular. It's no more religious than Halloween, anymore. There are also a lot of other holidays going on during the same time period. That's why so many people are saying "Happy Holidays", instead of just "Merry Christmas". By saying just "Merry Christmas", you leave out the holidays of so many people.

It's weird how now it's socially acceptable to say just about any obscenity including the "N" word which is now regularly played on the open radio airwaves in popular music, but people get offended by "Merry Christmas".
By the way, holiday means "Holy Day". So the joke is on the liberal PC police.

Umm, are you trying to insult me with "******"? I really don't understand your intentions.
Anyways, the word "Holiday" means Holy Day. Look it up, it's pretty obvious. So, "Happy Holidays" just includes Christmas as well as other religious or holy days. I'm not offended by "Happy Holidays" at all.
I still say Merry Christmas. What's acceptable to others shouldn't shape how I act. It's my morals that should do that. And why do you expect me to be "pissed off" as you say? Are you assuming this?

I am not offended. It simply means that we as a nation are becoming more aware of things around us. We, as a people, are being educated and are begining to realize that not everyone is Christian and therefore may not appreciate/understand the sentiment (Merry Christmas), any more than some Christians would appreciate/understand a stranger saying "Happy Ayyamiha" to them. ~~ This burst of awareness isn't a bad thing. It means we are growing into aware, knowledgeable beings who respect and CARE about the feelings and beliefs of others, whether we agree with those beliefs or not. ~~~IMHO
