It's not good to heat in styrofoam because styrofoam melts and you may end up with a big mess.

The theory that styrofoam releases toxic fumes is simply not true according to the FDA: http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/2002/602_plastic.html

Yes, it is true. Only use glass or paper products if heating in a microwave. Styrofoam and plastic are made of chemicals, and yes that leaches into your food when cooking in it. Over time, you'll subject your body to cancer and other illnesses. Our bodies cannot digest plastic and the toxins from it.

Styrofoam is not heat resistant, it will melt very quickly, especially in a microwave.

Yeh, that's the feeling I get (the break down thing...). Put the contents on a regular plate to heat in a microwave. (I don't like heating things in plastic either...)

That is TRUE. Also, it releases poisonous gas. That's why you should never melt or burn styrofoam.
