I am on the same medication, go to your doctor tell him or her that you are having side effects I know they can be quite nasty, and uncomfortable, and scary.

Your doctor will be able to give you a medication that is alot weaker until the Effexor XR is out of your system, this sometimes takes longer in some individuals it depends how long you have been taking this medication, just hold in there you will start to feel alot better and then will return back to norman.

Firstly make that appointment and go and see the doctor or speak to the doctor on the phone, your doctor needs to hear feedback from you.

You should NEVER be removed from this medication in one step. Please tell me it is just a dose reducal. If it isn't, go back in and ask for a different doctor!!!
Effexor is highly addictive and takes 1 month per 30mg dose to come off. You should be looking at being reduced off Effexor for 4-5 months before you're no longer taking in.

I took take a 150mg Effexor XR dose and have had trouble without the medication.

Effexor is a mood stabilizer...we don't take it because we are having a bad day but because we have chemicle imbalances in our brains. Why did your doctor take you off? Will you be starting something knew. The dizziness will stop because your body will adjust, the crying wont. CALL YOUR DOCTOR......a lot of money goes into making those meds so that you can move foward in life. I'm sorry you are having so much pain right now.

See your pharmacist, drugists are usually smarter than doctors,
listen to his advice, and if necessary, change physicians.

Also angel, when you ask this question, you received some caring answers. Keep that in mind when the best response you have for someone else is to bad mouth their avatar photo. If you disagree state your case. Being critical of a persons photo means you have nothing to contribute at all.

Cap and Kevlar (and others) got it right..
your doctor should know better than to stop in one step.. just about ANY mood stabilizing drug typically has nasty adverse effects when suddenly stopping them.. tapering down is the ONLY option.. speak with the doc as soon as you can.. (like now) and tell him how this is affecting you.. and if he can't figure out the error of his ways.. time for a competent doctor.. this one got his degree off of a cereal box.
Doctor knows best .. but patients sometimes need to nudge them in the right direction.. best of luck to ya. :)

Why did the MD taper you off? I am an RN and unless you are tapered off slowly, you WILL have side effects. If you asked to be taken off the meds, then perhaps you will have to endure these feelings for some time. God bless and good luck.

I wonder if your dr should have taken/tapered you off the med more slowly... like over a week rather than 3 days??!! Sounds like you're suffering from withdrawl.... you should talk to either your dr or one at a clinic.... don't mess around with meds

Comming off any prescription medication is sure to have some effect on people. Just take each day as it comes and do something you enjoy at least once a day to let out what your feeling. You'll be back to yourself in no time.

Depression on its own creates pain and suffering. The doctor has been able to give you something to change all that. Maybe you will be able to handle the stress of life now.

I work for a pharmacy insurance plan (I'm not a pharmacist though) and I have to tell you that when I have people call in for that we highly recommend that they speak to a pharmacist or their doctor. It's important to do that in case the side effects aren't normal.
