Better check with your pharmacist if you're not sure. I gather they were prescribed by different doctors. It depends on several factors- how controlled is your blood pressure? How much xanax are we talking about?

I wouldn't take them within an hour of each other. If you're going out into a situation that could bring on a panic attack, make sure you've taken you atenolol at least an hour before you go out.... just in case you find you need a xanax.

Used with caution, they're probably ok. Your medical doctor and psychiatrist should each know what the other has prescribed- make sure you inform them.

1st off atenolol is a beta blocker which does lower BP. Xanax is for panic attacks but it does have a side affect of lowering BP. depending on the dosage of each medication is what the answer would be. Write me back with the dosage info and I'll tell you more.

Xanax may decrease your blood pressure. Just be aware of how both drugs are affecting you. Check your heart rate and blood pressure at home if you can. The atenolol dose may have to be decreased if it's a problem (won't necessarily be a problem).

call your pharmacist or any 24 hour pharmacist, or your prescribing doctor's office. if you have already taken the two together, your doctor will have an answering service that will call them emergently.
