It used to bother me until I realized that it was one in a long series of clues that led me to believe that they aren't trustworthy enough for me to be spending my good time on. Once is understandable, the second time is on me, but there won't be a third time.

some ppl have agood reason or something came up you should probably ask before you jump to conclusions something bad could have happened ex you never know they could have had a wreck and died or they might of had a death in the family or an emergency such as that some ppl work and go to school and have other responsibilitys too you know!!! some ppl dont have time to talk on the phone alll the time but if they have a just stupid excuse give them a break and stay off of their back think about other ppl before you think of yourself

It would bother me if we were having a discussion with a co-worker or manager about a work topic. It is very unprofessional to pull that kind of stunt.
But if it was a chat with a someone non-work related, I wouldn't mind. I have used that same trick to get out of conversations I thought were boring or someone I just didn't want to talk to.
Off topic, LUV LI83 your pic is the prettiest I have seen yet on yahoo answers.

Not too be mean but maybe you're going on and on and that person has stuff to do and don't want to hurt your feelings. I have a friend that it is a struggle to get off of the phone with and most of the time she's just babbling about nothing.

this tends to bother me everytime it happens. for example lately i have been talking to this guy and i'll call him of he'll call me and he will say o i have to go can i call you back later and of course i say yea thats fine but then half the times i dont get a phone call back from him and i have pretty much told him though that it annoys and so now he's a bit better about it

Yeah you sound like me. I hate that too because I will make a mental note of that person going to call me back and expect the call... checking the machine to see if they left a msg or being careful to make sure I hear the phone if I am outside, etc...

Well, "hold on" and "i'll call you back" kind of contradict each other- that's annoying because it's confusing.
But now, does it bother me when someone doesn't get to call me back? Oh no. I know how busy life can make you and I don't usually get to call anyone back myself. It's not personal. It's no big deal to me.

Yes that get on my last nerve, I usually just don't call that person back and when they finally decide to call me back a month later I won't answer the phone.

Get a brain. They obviously don't want to talk to you too badly, or else they would call you back. Think about how annoyed you would be if you had to listen to yourself on the phone... you'd probably hang up to.

Yes, it bothers me too. Not to mention you wait around the house for them to call, and there are so many other things you could be doing.

They probably just forgot. . .maybe the other call (or whatever) was very involved.
Don't take it personally. I forget sometimes.
Remind them. If they still don't seem fazed, then get upset. But in all likelihood, they just totally forgot. Give 'em a break!
