My friends and I were playing baseball on a public field and some guy on a motorcycle thinking he was bad *** stormed over and started yelling at us that we were ruining the work he put on the field and that he had a game coming up and that we needed permit. I was going to tell him where he can go shove it, but I didn't. I could understand him being upset, but he was livid, and I was very close to going back there and telling him off. Should I just let it go? It still bothers me and this happened hours ago......

The field was in fact public. He made it sound like he was the only one it town who paid taxes. He was being a civilian cop and that's crap in my opinion. I owe him no apology. My friends and I weren't doing anything wrong.

Raking a baseball field is NOTHING like pouring beer on a waxed car. While I appreciate your opinion oakwolf, the guy was pissed about us putting cleat marks when he sped off on his motorcycle leaving tredmarks on the field! What a hypocrite!

Hate to say it, but you might want to just drop this one.
This guy doesn't seem like the type to value your input.
I think he was overreacting, but I also don't think it would do any good going back to the field to give him a piece of your mind. Take your anger out somewhere else! :) Good luck!

Obviously the guy put some effort into getting the field ready. How would you feel if you had just waxed your car and a stranger opened a beer and set it on your hood. If its that important to you, your silence probably made him crazy therefore you got back at him more than you would have by being confrontational. Anything you would have said would only go to justify his emotional behavior. So ironically you already won...move on.

I would suggest letting it go.

Like you said, his upset is understandable. He could have had a hard day, or he could have assumed you were a "punk" who didn't respect public property.

Maybe if you see him again, apologize and explain how you weren't familiar with needing a permit. He'll either be nice about it and apologize for being rude or he'll just ignore it.

You were right not to be rude back to him. Don't beat yourself up over doing the right thing.

Let it go, but if it happens again tell him it's a public field and to back the f@ck off.

Yes,my Godly moderated believer; you didn't say anything about your religiously inspired, comprehension of the "Creators Plan", but from your indicated response to adversity, it would seem that "Godliness" is with-in you, and that a very bright future awaits you, if only you seek out Godly enlightenment, to the point of Human Spiritual Fullfillment, which will reveal this "Creators Plan" to your, by then, well-rounded genius...Peace,Love,& +Comprehension...MeSighAh...CanU....

He was feeding you a line. Public fields are just that... public.
If he truly had a game that was that important to keep the field pristine, it would've been reserved and posted as such for the event.
Nonetheless, blow it off and forget about him.
He's the loser.

It's not really a big deal he's probably a crusader with nothing to crusade. If he continues to bother you just tell him it's a public park and you pay as munch taxes as he does, and that he can use it as he wishes too.
