With so many false teachers and ministers out there, how do you know who you can trust?

Some of these TV minister guys seem more concerned with taking my money, fortune telling, and selling religious products, than they do about our salvation and spiritual growth. And they do it all in the name of Jesus. It makes me want to puke!

What say you?

I agree. That's why it's so important to become a student of the word of God yourself. Then you will be able to "rightly divide the word of truth" no matter who is saying it. We need the gift of discernment now more than ever. Too many "Christians" are depending solely on the words of a preacher they will never know personally to give them direction instead of seeking the Holy Spirit and participating fully in a local body of believers. Hope you are learning and growing. God bless.

Well Bill, the Bible tells us that people will gather around them teachers who say what their itching ears want to hear. Most of these tv preachers are just that. They are selling a gospel to the people that is what they want to hear. There are some real men of God on tv, but not many. It is most unfortunate that Christianity does not clean up its own back yard. The Baptist have done that about twice, and it cost them about half the church. Some preachers just move out of their denomination and start independent churches. Some fail, some work.
The sad thing is that scoffers look at this blight in the church and judge God by what they see. I think we need to start a movement to clean out the church closet. I'll work on mine-how about the rest of you guys?

I say that you should look at these t.v minister's websites and see what they truly believe. Most of them have their beliefs posted somewhere on the site. Personally if it seems like all the ministers do is ask for money then I don't watch them. Also, if any one of these ministers says something that contradicts the Bible don't listen to them either.

I used to watch a few different ministers on tv but I have narrowed it down to Billy Graham and about two others.
Sad isn't it.....

The Bible warned us about this. We need to trust only in God and the Bible. There are some good preachers, but they are human too, just like you and I. We all have our shortcomings, but they are going to be judged in a special way if they have mislead anyone. They Bible is clear on that point too. Best to find one that is closest to the truth and preaches from the Bible. They have to make money to stay on the air by selling stuff, you don't need to buy it. TV is extremely expensive and the Bible does say to tithe where you are fed, so they can sell their wares that help and it can count as a tithe.

If you hear a minister spreading a message you agree with, support them financially if you choose. The only problem is you may need a funeral or wedding or christening and these remote celebrity ministers will not be available for your needs. You will also not be able to monitor how they spend your contribution if they are miles from where you live.

the bible says tests the spirits. One day a preacher asked me why some members of the church acted like they didn't like him. I told him because they are there to listen to the wrong person. I told him that the bible says go hear what they spirit has to say in the churches and this is what these people weren't doing. The preacher are the middle men whom God uses to speak through. They go to see the preacher when they should be listening to the spirits.

I don't listen to any of them.I know who God is and what God expects of me.I don't need anyone coming between me and God.Most of the time they(preachers) just tell you that you're a sinner or someone else is a sinner and they go on and on about sin and then pass the collection plate or take money over the phone.God doesn't charge me money and I do just fine worshiping in my own private way.

I agree with you. It's preachers like them - and also the ones who are being accussed of child molestation that turn some people against religion. And it's not usually just a certain religon that has bad preachers but various ones.

Read the Bible. It is the true, complete, and unerring Word of God. If a TV preacher (or anyone for that matter) contradicts the Bible, or "chooses" which parts to follow and which to abandon, they are false.

Forget the t.v. ministers. Find a Church/minister that teaches from the Bible.
