Because the new teeth that are breaking through their little gums, are sharp. The poor darlings are hurting. There are several things you can do that might help - buy a teething ring that you put in the freezer - they gnaw on the frozen item, and that temporarily sooths them. Buy teething biscuits - messy, but the babies like them. Those are just two ideas. Best of luck to you.

The pain must be awful, and they can't tell you in any other way than by fussing and crying! They're asking you to help-you're the mommy and you make everything better. So, give them extra love, Tylenol or ibuprofen. Also, Hyland's teething tablets are amazing! You can get them at Walmart, Target or a health food store! It seems like they teeth continuously throughout the first two years!

Well they have these saber-like things pushing, breaking, ripping through their tender gums. They get fevers because the body is fighting off the infectious intruders that come from putting fingers and other items in their mouth that have germs on them. But the pressure of the item feels good to the sore spot, so they continue to chew on things, and the fevers come and go. Because it hurts like hell, and they are little and can't understand just what the heck is going on. That's why they are fussing when teething.

Well, if you think about how much it hurts when you get your wisdom teeth in, it all makes sense. Multiple teeth moving around getting ready to rip their way through the gum line! Add to the fact that the baby doesn't know what is happening or why and the fact that she/he can't communicate its need for meds etc, why I would be pretty cranky too.

Cutting those teeth through the gums hurts...to the point that if we had to go through it as adults, we wouldn't be able to handle it. On top of that horrendous pain, they often get low grade fevers too. Give the wee darlings something to soothe the fever, and the pain...and lots of things to chew on.

the only communication a baby has is to cry.( since they cant talk)...now,..the baby might just be saying: mommy, my gums are hurting or mom, I'm hungry or mom , I'm bored.or I have a tummy ache,or i need your comfort,or my favorite blanket is missing...or cuddle me mom.....It's so many things a baby could be crying about, not just ..the gums that are hurting ..it could be Lot's of other things too, ...as the baby gets older you can..tell .the differences , of cries...good luck.

Have you ever had tooth ache? well if you have then that will more or less answer your question!!! They are babies who cant talk cant just go and help themself to medicine, cant tell you when they are hot, their gums are huring, that their bum is stinging, that thier chin is chapped and sore through the dribble. So i take it that answers your question.
