First you have to complete all of the pre-req's, which takes aprox. two years. Depending on where you live they vary. From there you apply to actual hygiene school which is two years minimum or if you want the B.S it takes four. Total is aprox. four years. You can complete your pre-reqs quicker if you want depending on your class load. I completed my in a little over a year. The pay starts at aprox. $28, but it depends on where you live. I've know of people that have made nearly $80,000 a year.

School takes at least three years to complete. I make 29.50 an hour in the midwest. The pay varies greatly by dentist and area you plan to work in.
