YO!! It's Potty time!!!
Make everything in your lives about that bathroom if you really think he's ready...(yes, boys take longer, and don't stress him....I'm hoping you will use your sense here)
I read books about the potty, got videos about the potty, (there's a good one from Bear in the Big Blue House) and made up songs about the potty!
("poopy in the potty, spinning round and round,
poopy in the potty, gotta flush it down!" etc. etc. etc.!!!!)
I know this sounds nuts, and probably is.... I used to get the stupid songs stuck in my head, but they sure made everyone laugh in the corporate lunchroom!!!
Seriously, if you want this, then dedicate your time and creative energy.....
My son either got really into it, or got sick of my singing, but he just did it after only a week of ranting and raving, and has never had an accident!!
(easily embarrassed parents need not apply!)

I have a three year old boy who is still not doing well potty training. Dont push him, he may not be ready yet. I have found that an incentive when he is more ready will work. I have a coffee can in the bathroom and every time he tries then he gets a few coins. Then when we go shopping once a week he can use the money to buy a small toy. Of course once he catches on he may want to go all the time for money, then you should just give him some when he has success. Like I said, he is still trying with some real success but not total success. It may take a while longer for boys.

Doing number two on the potty is kinda scarey and common problem in training the best way is to remember just getting him to pee on the potty is good start he will eventually do number 2 with out much help just needs more time to feel comfortable.

I have a four year old boy who was verry stubborn about the whole thing I potty trained him a little over a year ago and what worked for him was the sticker chart. It got him motivated to go when he got the sticker chart filled up he would get a big surprise.

Tell your son to set on the potty like 4 to 5 min atfer he drink something by than he would have to use it than. In we have some use do something to make him feel comfort about it. So he will keep doing it over in over again.

Boys are usually later than girls are. My son was closer to three when he finally was ready.
If you think your son is ready, why not let him go bare bottom during the day when he's up and about? The air on his body and no diaper to absorb the moisture will help him to learn when he needs to go. (you might have a couple of messes to clean up til he's got the hang of it)
Also, my son was fascinated with the idea that he could pee standing up and loved to go outside on a tree. (we lived in the country with a tree in the back yard).

I wish I could help but I am going through the same thing with a grandson that I am raising. I had 3 daughters so this is all new to me and it is driving me bonkers. I will watch and see if anyone sends any good ideas though.

with my daughter, I had just gotten out of the hospital for an illness & the next day I was home with her & tried to put panties on her like we were doing before my stay away & she refused to wear them so i told her to follow me. We went into the kitchen & threw her whole bag of pull-ups in the trash she cried for a minute or two & it was over she only got to wear the pull-ups at night & it wasnt but 5 days later she told me that she didnt need one for bed time anymore we have only had 2 accidents & it has been 7 months ( yes i pulled them back out of trash after she walked away ) but it worked for me.
