Every day I log onto Yahoo! Answers and there's always several angry, arrogant, and hateful posters pretending to Christianity going off on people. Thjen bang! it all devolves to party lines. Christians on one side, atheists on the other. No matter how wrong, or hateful and hurtful the "Christian" may be, as long as he or she evokes the name of Jesus only "atheists" object. Well, I'm no atheist and I object. I understood Christianity to be about compassion and love for fellow man, but some of the venom i see here displayed... .

On top of that, as a Biblical scholar it is obvious that many have read very little of the Bible. And so many discard associated non-cononical history out of hand, believing instead what some minister with his own personal agenda has told them

Well the first five posts are refreshing. And no, Pastor, I would not lump all Christians together, I would then become one of those I'm writeing [ranting] about. Thank you.

Oh BTW===this does swing both ways you know. The tendency to chide and degrade peoples beliefs is even more prevalent on the "atheist" side which certainly lends credence to the view that they need some sort of spiritual guidence in their lives.

Hmmm, sorry if I was less than clear. It is certainly not my intention to to say "all" ministers have some personal agenda. Indeed as I re-read the details I feel misquoted.

comment from TJ: I have no argument with rightiousness, nor firmness of conviction. that wasn't my point at all. indeed, it is praiseworthy.

as for michael: 1040 snday PM. i'll read and meditate. & tomarrow eve respnd, probably turn this to a vote. I ask a lot of silly questions, but this one from the heart. i really appreciate a radical thinker. and i don't see this as off-subject. indeed right on it. as above, i do not argue rightiousness, nor conviction of thought. far from it. indeed i advocate rightiousness.. i belive in truth and justice. what i have reak difficulty in is ignorence and pandering to a "People Magazine' type spirituality. so I say go with your heart. tomarrow I may feel to dispense with you, but in this case it's not personal. I believe in Truth. And like I say i approve in radical thinkers. I see myself as a somewhat radical thinker. You will notice I chosse Sunday for this question so as to include the true belivers of Christianity and not just those who would argue. Debate leads us to Truth. Someone, earlier called me skeptic, alright. Better she said Cynic.

I'm a Christian and sometimes I get angry at what people say about my one true God. It really hurts that people say stuff like that when He's right there watching them type it. Christianity is about having a real and personal relationship with Jesus Christ and getting to know Him more and more and then one day go to Heaven for all eternity. You seem very skeptical to be a Bible scholar......just saying that's my opinion even if you are sry if you're offended by that. I can't understand why you would be a Bible scholar though if you don't like what's being taught about the Bible. My father is a pastor and he preaches the true Word of God every single Sunday. He has no "personal agenda" to tell ppl. Don't go off stereotyping ministers because they "all" preach what they want to. ok, I'm gonna stop this b/c I'm tired of arguing with you about this. I know what I believe is completely true and if you don't believe it I pity you greatly.

definite, yet too a lot of human beings would somewhat take the lazy way out. human beings prefer to say: "i do not choose." No, you do not choose because you're afraid human beings will element a finger proper again at you. no human being needs to do what's proper anymore. that's a lot less demanding to be lax and allow somebody else do the paintings. the first answer has it partly proper. no human being is appropriate; it quite is real. yet it really is merely better of that laziness speaking. 'If i visit't be appropriate, why difficulty attempting?' For me in my opinion: I >can not< choose. i have been in charge of a similar element.

You are right. I am a christian, and a biblical scholar, I would like to apologize for all the things that were done in God's name that were not of his. Even I have done that before. Unfortinatly I can not change the past and I will probobly not be able to change the "christians". People like to dabate. I am somone who likes to dabate, but unfortinatly people on both sides of the argument are seriously lacking preperation. I hope that few peopl were hurt by our actions. I you feel like haveing a real scholerly dabate, or have questions, look me up.

Sometimes you have to stand in a direct harsh way.Sure God is Love but He also is Righteous
and his righteous indignation will flare up.Even
Jesus made havoc in the temple.
[Money Changers
Mat_21:12; Mar_11:15; Joh_2:15]

Mat 21:12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,
Mat 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

Mar 11:15 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;

Joh 2:15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
Joh 2:16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

We are to get along with everybody if at all
possible but there is a time to tell it like it is.

I am looking mainly spiritual questions and I have not found yet where Christians spit venom. Christians are not perfect people and nobody is. Church is the hospital for sinners, filled with Christians. We follow Christ. And we are asked to spread the gospel = Good news. And the good news is that Jesus loves you. And He hopes that the feeling is mutual.

Yup, as a Christian, I have to agree with you. I hate seeing the arguments and the people who say they are believers making not only themselves but our Lord look bad to non-believers. It's very sad and upsetting to see. There are ways to talk to non-believers without being rude and throwing the name of Jesus around trying to sound better than someone else.

i'm a non-believer, but no worries, i will never condemn Christianity based on the people that you mention in your question.

Every group has good and bad people, that does not change my opinion about the group as such.

I think Christianity has some beautiful values about Love, Understanding, Respect and Sharing. I can see those values, and i use them in society. Not in a biblical way, but in my own manner.

I also know that the Bible is used by many people to just get a grips on their own fears. Their fears about homosexuals, their fear about death, their fear about everything that strikes them as weird. If it helps them to overcome their fears with that, fine by me. If they get hatefull, then i will always debate them. If they condemn other groups, then i will always debate them.

But, as i said, don't worry that these people give Christianity a bad name, they only give themselves a bad name.

The people answering questions like that apparently are not true christians and they need to realize that and change there ways i am christian i like to answer religouis related questions and when i do i always have my bible right next to me for reference

Christianity is for being like Christ and Christ was compassionate and loved everyone so therefore to be a true disciple of Christ you must follow in his foot steps

This question shocked me because my name is Christian and my bedroom and the room next to it which I use to get dressed in are both a mess right now. I thought Big Brother was posting the questions.

Only addressing what you wrote in bold letters-the first 10 words as I didn't need to read the rest. The answer is "yes" and Christians are...thank you.
