Muslims hate drinking, Buddhists also forbid it, because it dulls the senses and you aren't in tune with what Allah, Buddha or God has to say. The Bible doesn't forbid drinking just do it in moderation. As far as being bad for your health, beer drinking is beneficial to the prostrate, only 17 beers a day. And if you drink coffee it removes cirrhosis of the liver but only if you buy coffee from Starbucks.

They do not think that it is bad for your health. In the Qu'ran it states that people should refrain from indulging in things like alcohol that may impair your judgement. And since everything in that Holy Book is the word of God, most follow it strictly. Some however, do drink and ignore this.

I'm not a Koran scholar, but I do know that drinking is physically bad for you, especially in large amounts. I also know that in the Bible, drinking is discouraged.
