Be prepared for misunderstandings, and be open enough to understand that you may be doing something that makes her uncomfortable. It may not be too bad, for many foreign students learn English (as she has most likely done) and pay attention to things we do here, so she might understand our culture (such as it is) almost as well as we do.
If, for instance, she can cook and wants to try making an authentic Spanish meal for you, offer to help and let her take charge of the meal. She should want to help out around the house somewhat as well, but she might be a bit homesick early on, too. Your parents are going to be surrogate parents for awhile, so they need to understand that.
This isn't something I've ever done (sponsoring an exchange student), but it sounds like fun and should be a nice experience, but by no means is it guaranteed to be problem-free. But ask her a lot of questions about her home and involve her in your family activities, and make sure you set aside some cash for international phone calls.
Enjoy the experience!

Expect a new friend. All the exchange students i have had have been very nice, help out around the house, try to learn what is the "american way". do take her around to local sites, do things with her that would show her what life is like here. a baseball game, ocean, party, play...oh, and expect that you will have someone to visit in spain in a couple of years if you become good friends.

YOU'RE getting an exchange student? Or do you mean one is coming to your school?
In terms of what to expect though....not sure, depends on her attitude and everything. The exchange students that came to our school though became very popular and were pretty cool people. They are happy to be there and are very nice.

How fun! You'll just expect lots of fun adventures and you should show her around your town and such. I'm sure she will have a great time when she goes back home and brags about how much she had fun here and how she had the most wonderful family to stay with.

Expect different language. if you know what language he speaks you should study the language he speaks so you can at least talk to him/her. Also he can be a little scared so try to comfort him and talk to him!! This is a good combination so good luck!!!!!!
