How about starting an rare and endangered species garden? You can contact your local DNR and ask for a list of plants that need re-introduced into your ranches natural habitat.
I have found many of these plants online but I do not suggest buying from anyone but a reputable dealer as one of the reasons the plants get endangered in the first place is people digging them up to sell!
Another suggestion is to make a bit of money with this by propagating these plants and selling them at a road side stand.
As to the cousin who is a pain, I suggest you and the other figure out what she would be good at with this suggestion and let her do it, like the financial aspect, or research, or even sales. Work towards each others strengths and help the environment at the same time!
