Animals will inbreed because they don't know the difference, but not only is it irresponsible to let that happen, the kittens will not be healthy, and might have some mental problems.

Get the cats fixed--not only is it the responsible thing to do, but most vets will allow you to have a payment plan or something...and some animal shelters actually have an assistance program for lower-income pet owners.

Do NOT just ignore it and let them keep mating, you will end up with an impossible amount of cats in a very short time--too many to find good, responsible homes for. Plus, un-neutered cats do get things like testicular cancer, uterine cancer, etc, and they have many more behavior problems if they're not fixed.

Yes it is normal. There are a million wild cats that have stemmed from the same mother living around my house. They are all inbred, so it takes years of inbreeding to cause health problems, We have atleast five generations of inbreeding with these cats! We aren't able to catch them to fix them! So they mate with each other. So yes it is normal. It's not like they know they're related!

For humans it is definitely ewww. But in the animal kingdom they don't know the difference between sister, mother, aunt, grandma in the same sense that we do. All they know is that they have a instinct to reproduce and will use any means that are there to do this. Get him neutered and her spayed so they don't have that urge any more. It may be too late for the female. Depending on how long this has been happening and if she is in heat, she may already be pregnant. Visit your local animal shelter and just look at all the unwanted animals that our country has. Don't contribute to it. Trust me I have had to euthanize so many animals because no one wants them, or no one cares for them. Please be responsible and get them fixed. Thank you.

animal understand a "family" relationship between eat other..but when nature takes over, and the urge to mate kicks in..hey what's a cat to do.
get them fixed. most vet clinics have discount rates...its $40-$80 bucks...good investment...and healthier for your kitties too.

cats tend not to have the same social and emotional bonding that us humans do

when the hormones kick off then any ladycat will do for the poor old tomcat

you may find him easier to live with if he is fixed anyway regardless of his sister

Of course it's normal, but it's not healthy! They don't know they're siblings. Inbreeding leads to all kinds of health problems. You should really get your cats fixed. What's wrong with you!?

when a female is in a heat cycle it will mate with any male cat so yes is normal. however, i don't believe myself to inbreed so if you don't like this you need to part the animals the next heat cycle or it will happen again.

A male cat would mate with his mother if she were in heat. They would stop at nothing if they smelled another cat in heat!
