No... don't drink hot water... it can really hurt you than help.
Drink cold water instead... you'll body will burn additional calories warming the water internally after you've drank it.

I heard it's the opposite. If you drink cold water you'll be able to lose some more weight because the body will be working more to heat up the water.

Well, I heard it was the opposite actually. That it takes more energy to heat ice water up to body temp so therefore increases metabolism.
