The flag is backwards because it symbolizes that the soldier is carrying the flag and it is streaming behind him. I.E. if the soldier was carrying a real flag the flag would look the same as the one on his right shoulder.

The American Flag charges into battle, It never retreats! It symbolizes a real flag blowing in the wind when a soldier is charging forward into battle.

Wearing the flag backward is a symbol of charging into Battle. If you run with a flag it would look backward.

The flag which is worn on our right shoulder has the stars forawrd because it indicates advancing in the face of the enemy and not the other way which means retreat.

the flag is backwards on the uniform because it symbolizes a soldier carrying it to war with him. just imagine carrying a flag, that would be the way it would appear.

join the military and find out for yourselve. it something that you learn. right along with honor and dignity.
but yes it means that we are advancing and moving forward. to a soldier that flag means a lot.

it means not in the home country. if you are stationed in another country, the flag is backwards. when you are in the states, its forward

And it is the same way on aircraft, it always looks as tho it is blowing in the wind.

it looks like they are advancing. on the left shoulder it is normal, looking like they are moving forward. on the right shoulder, it is the opposite, still looking like it is advancing forward.
