Washing them causes this. You're not supposed to wash a cat. But Calicos already have bad skin like siamese. If you're not washing them, try finding a food that hass skin supplements.

It may be as simple as the shampoo your using. But there is a possiblity that it may be caused from an underlying medical condition. Worms often cause an animals coat to become unhealthy, it could be a thyroid problem, or numerous other things. You really need to take him/her to the vet just to make sure there is not something more serious going on.

Not sure why this happens, but i also have a calico with this problem.Try making a paste of baking soda and water. Try to rinse off as much as possible, but if you dont get it all its not harmful to them. They dont like the water, but it has helped mine.

Is he an inside or outside cat? sometimes what looks like dandruff can be something else...an illness, malnutrition etc....I'd try keeping him dry, and brushing him...if he starts loosing hair talk to your vet.

Allot of times, it has to do with what you are feeding them.... Change your cats food, to something that is reputable, (better quality) Definitely no need to shampoo the cat, they clean themselves just fine!
