You may be mature, but you are still at an age where you could get babysat yourself. Wait a few years, like 2, just so you can be more responsible with little kids.

If you take the Red Cross Babysitting Course you can become a certified babysitter (which raises your pay!) Or, it depends. If your customer thinks that you're mature enough to take care of a baby or kid, then sure, you can babysit! It's all up to you and the customer. If you don't think you're mature enough to handle taking care of another human, don't babysit. Try it out by being a "Mommy's Helper" at first. You basically will help around the house while the mom is still there. Try it out and if you feel ready you can babysit!

Why do you call yourself very mature. Do your parents say that you are or you are only using your own judgement on yourself?

I am not a mother but if I am going to be one in the future. I would NEVER a 10 year old to babysit my kids no matter if you are the more mature 10 year old in the world.

I must say that when I was a kid growing up my sister used to babysit my other sisters as well as myself and brother. I was like four years old then. So this put my sister at about 11 years old. Now this is going back to the late fifties early sixties. But for some reason I am not sure that it would be the same today. I might allow you to babysit for like an hour or so, but that is about it. NO I don't have any kids living with me now. But with Family services being what they are now a days I'd be very very careful.

Although you may be very mature, you are still too young to babysit. To watch your younger siblings for a few minutes while mom runs to the store, maybe. But to go to people's homes and care for their children for several hours, no. Wait until you are at least 13 or 14. In the meantime, take first aid and child care classes at the local YMCA/YWCA. Then you'll be a top notch sitter when you are old enough.

probably not... most of the time one of the kids is pretty close to 10, so a parent won't really want someone almost their kids age watching their kids. If you really want to babysit maybe you can babysit for an aunt or a family friend who trusts you with their kids. The people who I babysit for were looking for someone over 12.

Why don't you investigate the community hospital or 4H program to see if they offer any baby-sitting classes, or know who does? A mature person wants to be as fully prepared for a given situation when working, no matter what the job. And I'm sure you will have references, leads to baby-sitting jobs and make friends by taking class. Taking a class will definetly reflect how mature you are and serious you are about baby-sitting. Also, you should find out what the law says in your area too.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!

You may be mature for your age but it's not necessarily about that what babysitting is about is weather or not the parents feel comfortable leaving you to take care of THEIR children.

You should wait at least another 2 years. I used to watch my little brother and Sister but, I didn't start watching OPK---(other peoples kids) until I was 12. Oh...and nothing over 2 or 3 hours, it could start to interfere with your school studies. I learned this the hard way growing-up. Be young have fun dear! : )
