Best first date ideas:

Grabbing coffee at a local Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts
Going to an art gallery or museum
Playing minigolf

The most important thing on a first date is to talk and get familiar with each other. Avoid the movies- it's awkward sitting in the dark beside someone you barely know...it's even worse when you're done with the film.

Honesty...the best place for a FIRST date should be somewhere the both of you can hear each other talk. A movie is the worst place because its just not right for a first date, but when you can go somewhere and just chill, eat, and talk at the same time; priceless.

Dinner in a fairly quiet restuarant. It's important to be able to talk and hear each other so you can get to know the person better. Also, don't plan a long date for the first time. It's sort of a fact finding mission. "Am I comfortable with this person enough to get to know them better"?

go out for some tea and actually have tea b/c coffee makes your breath stink. do this so you can figure out if you like them enough to move on to stage two, which is go shopping in an interesting part of town (you don't have to buy them anything and make it an interesting place like the part of town with tattoo shops for example). this is because this scenery has built in conversation which is good, and when your doing this you don't have to look directly at them like at a dinner or something.

it works wonders

*i'm sure you can use your brain power to put something together for after that if you like*

They're a place in NYC called DTUT - it's kind of like the Friends coffee place. You can have tea, coffee, desserts, etc. - they also sell beer and wine, so everyone is easy to please. The chairs are cozy so you can get comfy.

2nd Ave and 84th.

someplace public and well visited, but before that a first date should always meet the parents of those going out ,
bottom line is dad taking him out on the front porch and explaing life to him as he knows it.

dinner and ten pin bowling...you can use the game as something to talk/flirt about when u run out of things to say...and seeing you're both having fun you will be more comfortable with each other so the conversation should start to flow easily...
