Get some of the dry baby pablum (dry cereal). Mix it well with raw egg and use a syringe to draw it up. You can get one from a vet, or maybe a cooking isle? As you come close to the bird it will instinctively open it's mouth. Squirt the food in. I can't remember how much to feed them, or how much pablum to mix up, but I did this w/baby robins and they thrived on it. You have to feed the babies once every hour. It is demanding, but you will be glad you did it when they're "teenagers" and following you around in your yard. Best of luck to you!

RE:
how do I care for a baby wren fallen from the nest?
We had a feeling it would fall.We watched it go in and out of house and sure enough it fell into the wheelbarrow I placed under the house with a folded tarp inside to pad it's fall.We tried putting it back without touching it but either it or it's sibling has fallen and made it to the...

Studies have shown that putting the bird back in its nest is best, even if you handle the bird. It's possible mama isn't too swift (I know, it's a wren), or the nest is not well-placed or made, or the little birds are too eager to get out.
If there is an animal or bird hospital in your area, or a vet that cares for birds, call and ask.
It sounds like the birds are old enough for solid food (bugs), and maybe mama is not interested in feeding them any more. Leaving it on the ground, where it can at least catch bugs is probably better than in a trash can, unless there's some garbage to attract flies.

I know this is an old discussion but just kills me when SO many people think they know an answer and throw out absolute rubbish answers. 30 years ago it was rumored that if you touch a baby bird the mother will not go near it. This is absolute hogwash and so disturbing with this wealth of information right at our finger tips so many still cling to the rubbish and spread it to others. Do 5 seconds research please before you spew bullchit. Sorry to be so blunt but holy cow- use your brains a little. Learn.. grow.. its never too late. clinging on the falsehoods just perpetuates the gibberish like toxic spew. http://www.snopes.com/critters/wild/babybird.asp

One that made a nest fell on my porch and its not fully got feathers yet, just the weird things. It ate the cereal/egg and ive got it in a warm place, is there anything else I should do for this bird? I know its not likely itll live but i cant just watch it die.

You need to contact a vet right away....
Without proper care and attention, the bird may not feel accostumed to it's surroundings enough to feel at home and could easily become very ill. The mother bird will NOT tend to the baby bird after any human has touched it so trying to reunite it with it's mother is pretty much impossible. So like I said, call a vet and see what either you and/or they can do. Good Luck!!!

You should let it out of the trash can, its mother cannot return to care for it in there.
the best thing would be to out it ont he ground under a bush or something close to where it fell and leave it. Keep an eye but stay away so the mother gets the confidence to return.

If the mother saw you around her baby then she probably has abandoned it and won't come back to take care of it. Unless you take care of the baby it will probably die, so try feeding it and make a safe home for it.
