Sauteeing in olive oil, yes. Grilling them not so sure. Depends on if you are going to dip or brush on the oil, and then grill. Like one of the others said, keep your heat low or you will burn them. Nothing beats the taste of carmelized onions in olive oil.

Olive oil is a bit heavy for onions. If you plan on using the onions in a recipe, go ahead. If you're going to use the onions as a side dish or on steaks or burgers, then you're better off using vegetable or sunflower oil. They're lighter, you'll taste more onion and less oil.

I don't know of any reason not to use olive oil to cook onions

You can fry them in olive oil, or brush them with olive oil and grill them, but I'm not sure how grilling them IN olive oil would work...

Yes you can. I would only use a tablespoon because of the chance of setting the onions on fire. That isprobably about the right about. Enjoy you onions!

You can but they don't brown as well. My suggestion is use a little of the olive oil and then add a pat of butter.

why not? it's better for you than other oil and even butter. i use olive oil all the time when i grill zucchini.

i don't grill onions in anything.....on the outside grill i just wrap them in a "pocket" of foil with some bell peppers.

Onions are great done in olive oil... try the sweet spanish onions.......... fabolous!!!!!

Yes, you can but be careful not to get the heat to high med hi heat will get the onions to caramelize but be sure to keep stirring them or they will burn.
