No that's straddling the fence and unethical. It's also very hypocritical.

YES you can!! Just because you don't agree with the war....it doesn't mean that you can't support the troops. The war is happening and we are involved. The troops need all the support they can get and deserve. They are over there in Iraq doing what they believe is the right thing. They see the changes happening. Good changes. Maybe if the media would show the many, many good things going on instead of all the bad, the people of this country might have a different perspective on the war. Those who are saying that they don't support the war, will see that in the end....that it was the right thing to do. You'll see!

Yes you can. The war and supporting the troops are two very different things. I personally don't like war and i know that most people agree with me. But a soldier isn't given that choice. When you join the military you give up the a lot of the rights that most people in the United States take for granted. So supporting the troops means doing everything you can to let the soldiers know that the American people understand the sacrifices that they are making. Being against the war just means that you don't believe that American soldiers should be in another country fighting for that countries freedom. It's your choice as to whether you want to support the troops or support the war or both. But please remember that a soldier doesn't get a choice. When he/she's sworn in to the military they give up the right to say, "I disagree with the war." or "I don't want to go overseas."

Of course it is possible ... just because one is against the actual war in Iraq, doesn't mean we don't support our men and women in harm's way ... how could you possibly be against THEM? It is entirely possible that the same people will have to fight a less contentious war ... what I'm trying to say is ... we are talking about two different things - support for the war or support for our troops ... really not the same thing!

I support the troops, in that I am thankful that they are willing to put their lives on the line to protect me and my country.

I don't support this war. The troops there are not protecting me or my country; they're an invading force that was sent there under false pretenses with no exit strategy, and no clear explanation what the mission is.

Over 2,500 troops dead...and many more to come. I heard an administration spokesman talking about their 10-year plan for Iraq.

Absolutely not. I hear this nonsense frequently but let me ask you this. If you really oppose the government, Blah, Blah, Blah, what are you doing about it? If you truly hate a war, then you speak out, or you act out, or you keep your hypocritical mouth shut. So let's assume you speak and act out. This type of activity is picked up but news organizations all over the world. It is then printed in the native language of the enemy. Those news articles bolster the enemy's confidence. After all, all they need do is hold on a little longer and fill a few more body bags and the weak Americans will abandon their cause. It happened with Jane Fonda and John Kerry in Viet Nam, Blackhawk Down is another example, the Dixie Chicks are yet a third. This list goes on to include Bill Clinton and his activities in England.

So you support the troops. Big deal! If you really oppose something and don't speak out, you are a hypocrite. If you really oppose something and you do speak out, you are giving aid and comfort to the enemy. So you really support the troops but at the same time you are bolstering the enemy, which encourages the enemy to kill more of the troops you support.

Do me a favor. Quit supporting my brothers in arms. Just like Jane Fonda, you are causing the deaths of American fighting men as surly as if you were pulling the trigger yourself. Get behind your country and it's service men or don't, but quit trying to have it both ways...

Yes, a person can support the troops in Iraq and simultaneously oppose the illegal occupation of Iraq. Only a damn fool or ditto head blindly supports everything that the corrupt Bush Crime Family and Republican Congress pitches at them.

Yes of course you can.

The time to protest the war was before it happened. It was over in two weeks and what has happened since is that the troops cannot come home because the politicians have botched the peace.

Its not the soldiers fault and they are doing a generally great job under horrific circumstances.

It is immoral not to support them whilst they are risking their lives for the government you elected.

Yes because the troops do as they are ordered to do. I'm sure there are troops over there that don't believe in the war. But are proudly serving their country. You should always support the troops rather you believe in the war or not.

Yes, most of the troops dont want to be there either. You can support the people who are in that &$#* situation and still be against the warmongers and greedheads in the white house who started the war.

Absolutely.

Our troops did not make the decision to fight the Iraq war - they were simply obeying their president's orders.

The best way to support our troops, though, is to bring them home as soon as possible.
