Well I do not allow my children to go anywhere barefoot.
We live in a pretty busy area and you never know what they could step on-glass,cigarette butts, gum ANYTHING...nasty things you do not want to imagine. Even pool parties I do not bring them to barefoot they make water shoes and flip flops for just those reasons!
Also they did a thing on the news not that long ago showing the kinds of bacterias you could pick up walking through public stores, bathrooms and hallways barefoot. And that was done on adults...imagine what little kids could contract on their feet that are not as tough as ours.
And imagine how disgusting movie theaters floors are. I get disgusted just walking on them with my shoes on...I wouldn't want to go barefoot.
NO WAY...not worth the risk to me.
You can not change the past and I can not tell you how to raise your child but I would suggest you think more of your child's safety in the future.
Also remember just because they didn't say anything about it to your face doesn't mean they weren't talking bad about you behind your back.

OK, so we have all done somethings that we learn from.... I have let my son stay with the grandparents overnight, and including the next day, absent-mindedly forgetting to send any other clothes except the ones he was wearing.....you know what happened?
He came home in the same, (considerably more dirty) clothes. No big deal. Did it make me wrong? I don't know, but I think it's just a matter of forgetting even the most obvious things. These are the best type of mistake though-- you really learn from them!!! You'll probably never let him go over to someones house without shoes again, right?
Look, we all make mistakes.... I read a story in the news about a woman who left her son at Chuck e Cheese after a birthday party-- she got so caught up, she packed up the gifts and the extra pizza, and went on her way, assuming her son was with someone else..... feel better??
Also, there has got to be some sort of accountability on the other adults in charge. If I noticed that a child was with me to go to the movies, and the parents forgot shoes, I know I would find a way to remedy the situation, whether it be borrowing slippers or socks, or if all else failed, a darn piggy back ride!!!
Look, he won't remember or care in some time, and niether will you.....I'm glad to hear you have him involved with other kids!!
I'm sure you'll remember shoes the next time!

You probably should have provided flip flops or sneakers. For the safety of your sons feet. Glass and nails and things are all over parking lots and not having foot protection could be a painful and costly mistake. There was also the possibility that your son would have been barred from the movies and that would have ruined the movie experience for the rest of the people that went. You should always err on the side of caution.

Don't worry so much. But maybe next time he goes to a pool party make sure he has a change of clothes with a pair of shoes and socks and then there'll be no worry for you :D

I don't think you did anything wrong. But he should of had either flip flop or shoes with him. Because he could get something in his foot by chance that is something nobody ever knows about.
