My 1 year old is now drinking whole milk instead of formula but it seems to me that he is always hungry although we have increased the solid foods to make up for nutrients. Are babies hungrier when drinking whole because of a lack of something? Is this normal?

I also have a 1 year old. This is very normal at this stage. My little girl has breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, and then dinner. She drinks either vitamin D whole milk, juice, or water. As long as he is getting healthy meals and snack he should be fine. They eat more at this age. When they hit about 2 years old it may slow down. Right now their bodies are growing so rapidly. They just need extra calories.

Whole milk doesn't have the nutrients that a formula may have but if I were you I'd keep doing what you're doing because the baby is one years old.

One year olds are very active and need the calories for all that motion! Ask your doctor about using two percent or nonfat milk. The child needs the calcium but not the fat content.

my mom had 8 children and she told us stories of how each of us all 8, ate differently,.
she said the last one, my brother, was hungry all the time and she started to put cereal with his milk right before bed to get him to sleep. and this was 6 months to a 1yr old he was.
my mom always told us this story all time.
