Definitely. If it's not their Ten Commandments in our public buildings, it's teaching their creationism myths in our classrooms. Enough already. Keep that stuff in church where it belongs.

And what gives your dusty books more authority and relevance than mine. Oh, because their teachings are more convenient for your personal disposition. I'm sure that the one true God would never intend for us to conform to his teachings but instead find teaching that don't demand us to change a thing, in essence, I get to be God because I define what parts of the bible are correct and which aren't according to me. By the way even a cursory glance at the founders writings would verify that religious speech and thought are the most preeminent to be protected. Abuse is taking the words "Congress shall pass no law respecting the establishment of a religion" and telling a child he is not allowed to take his Bible to school...Really? That child just became the US Congress and established a national religion?

Sometimes when I see and hear things on the news I am sorry that there are so many people out there forcing their interpretation of what is right and wrong on all the rest of us. It has been my experience that most Christians are peace loving people, but there is this highly vocal right wing group that are out there claiming to speak for all of us. Yes, the religious right abuses the term freedom of speech simply because they refuse to allow the possibility that someone else's beliefs might be just as valid as theirs. What scares me is that those of us who don't believe the way they do are being called heretics, and we are slowly being turned away from our own churches because of it. In my Bible Jesus says we should love our enemies, and our neighbors as ourselves, but I don't see a whole lot of that these days.

No. What about the fact that our Children are taught evolution, which is only a theory. I know I am not happy with that, I think they should ALSO teach Creationism. This country was founded on Biblical truths. IN GOD WE TRUST! Why is it okay to go around and express how you DON"T believe in God, and push that belief on us? Yet, you say we are abusing this term. Majority rules at most sites for prayer, Ten Commandments, etc. to stay in the public, yet we accommodate the handful that disagree.
Who is really selfish and who is really pushing their beliefs? I see it opposite as you do.

Actually I believe quite the contrary. The majority of the religious right is constrained by the application seperation of church and state and the grounds of discrimination based on religious beliefs.

In religion and politics, people accuse those who disagree with them of abusing the freedom of speech.

If freedom of speech is just a term now I'm sure glad I didn't die for it, many men have.

Of course they are.
They have had their campaign - it failed - so they should lay it to rest. They are only doing more halm than good now. Most people think the fundermentalist Christians are nutters.

Those freaks that protest and shout Thank God for Dead Soldiers at soldiers funerals most certainly are. Hate is not allowed for me, but they test my spirit, boy.
