I am also Cherokee. Your best bet for finding out is to look on the lists they made of us back in the mid-1800s in Oklahoma. Try a Trail of Tears googled site and follow links. Good luck.

I couldn't see where bodie would be a heritage name as the cherokee are concerned. There is no "b" sound in the cherokee language. Closest representation would be something like "wo-di" perhaps.
Btw, If you're wanting to get a reservation ID, check the national registry. You gotta prove your relationship directly to someone on the original registry.
Contact the Bureau of Indian Affairs for more information.

Sorry I didn't find any mention of Cherokee.
The name Bodie has a history dating as far back as the Anglo-Saxon tribes of Britain. It was a name for a person with a striking physique.
Spelling variations include: Body, Boddy, Boddie, Bodie, Bode, Bodhy, Bodin, Bott, Botter, Bodds, Bods, Botty and many more.
First found in Hampshire where they were seated from ancient times.
Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: Thomas Body who settled in Virginia in 1636; followed by Robert in 1645; John Body settled in Pennsylvania in 1682; John Bodie settled in Frederick county Md. in 1794.
However, there was another person that wanted to know if they were Cherokee as they had the same last name.

to find out what degree you are..you need to contact Cherokee nation and I think you may need to give your father's name and you birth certificate..from the information you give they may be able to issue you a CDIB card. It may be hard to get exact degree though because at one time..Indians were ashamed of their heritage and lied about their degree of blood.
