Don't you?

Some Catholics will say he is not infallible, most I think will say that he is. It is taught that the pope is acting as an authoritative figure for God here on earth. His knowledge his given to him from God, therefore infallible. The first pope according to the Catholic Church was Peter. I think it is just a way for the pope to change things at will and people will accept the change because they believe it is God who made the change and not just a man called pope.

Not all catholics believe that he is infallible especially after the recent discoveries that some lower ranking priests have been accused of molesting kids...don't forget that the pope is chosen from the ranks by a majority of votes.

Pope huh?
Let's listen to Black Sabbath's "After Forever" 1970
I'm sorry but Tony Iommi's hook in this song has got to be the most memorable in all of Rock History. It sounds like dinosaurs walking to me.
Maybe we can find the answer. I don't know.
"Have you ever thought about your soul - can it be saved?
Or perhaps you think that when you're dead you just stay in your grave
Is God just a thought within your head or is he a part of you?
Is Christ just a name that you read in a book when you were in school?
When you think about death do you lose your breath or do you keep your cool?
Would you like to see the Pope on the end of a rope - do you think he's a fool?
Well I have seen the truth, yes I've seen the light and I've changed my ways
And I'll be prepared when you're lonely and scared at the end of our days
Could it be you're afraid of what your friends might say
If they knew you believe in God above?
They should realize before they criticize
that God is the only way to love.
Is your mind so small that you have to fall
In with the pack wherever they run
Will you still sneer when death is near
And say they may as well worship the sun.
I think it was true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced
Will you be so sure when your day is near say you don't believe?
You had the chance but you turned it down now you can't retrieve.
Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate.
Or will you still jeer at all you hear? Yes - I think it's too late."

First no that is not the correct statement of thier belief.
Catholics beleive that the Pope is just a man and as such does make mistakes also. It is only if and when, he stands in his specific office and wites a order specificly under the authority of his position is it infallible, not all of his statements or all of his actions. It is merely other churches and people wanting to twist the churches teachings that makes you and others beleive this.

The Pope is just as infallible as those that peddle false religions door to door. No one is perfect which is why we are here in the first place. Forgiveness from God is needed by everyone.

I left the Catholic church 30 years ago when I was 16. I can not believe women will follow a religion where they can not be a priest. I just am completely amazed that women go along with this in a free society. I guess human beings will believe and follow along with about anything. I think if you can get a person to believe one illogical thing... then it is easier to brainwash them.

As a former Catholic, I can say it is because we are indoctinated by humans to believe this. I do not believe it. Nor do I believe that the pope is God's only messenger on earth. We can all be messengers, and many others have brought messages from God. We have only to open our minds to recieve the message.

It is some kind of bizarre loyalty to the "king" of the most corrupt, organized religious group in the world. It is actually kinda weird and scary to me when I am in someones home and they have a picture of this mere mortal on their wall. This man, is just exactly that a "man". Not a prophet, not anymore "divine" than you or I. Look at all the people who followed Hitler? bizarre! I guess they need someone to believe in, it is just really unfortunate that they have not done their research prior to putting so much stock into this man; and his religious convictions.

Never heard that! Used to be a catholic. Found the truth and don't follow false teachings anymore.
I agree he is just a man. He's old and probably will fall sooner or later.
